Gym is open (Thursday)
Seven,
I did my "circuit jazzercise" class today for 65 minutes. It was a killer, but, I felt great for finishing it.
My biggest struggle with my new exercise lifestyle is my arthritis pain. Since I no longer can take anti-inflammatories, it can really stove me up. I keep on pushing and going to the gym, but, some days, like today, I really hurt in my arthritic joints. Do you have that problem?

My knees are shot. I have no doubt I have knee replacement in my future. I pretty much just avoid exercises that cause them pain. I am fortunate my knees are my only problem and I can easily adjust my workout around them.
Where do you have pain? I have read that Celebrex is ok for WLS patients. You might check with your surgeon about it.

I knew I read it (Celebrex) somewhere! It was at Penn State Bariatric Program. Here is the link:

Talk to your surgeon and see if maybe this might help a little.

Seven,
Thanks for the info. I will ask my doctor about it. Wasn't Celebrex recently implicated in other health problems? I just got an appointment with a Rheumatologist, his first new patient appt is May 15! But, I went on the wait list so if someone cancels, I'll still get in. I need to have my arthritis diagnosed. I know I have it. Doctors have seen it on xrays of my knees. My father is very crippled with it, my grandmother became so crippled she ended up in a nursing home with it. But, neither can tell me what kind of arthritis they have!
I know exercise helps with arthritis, but, it is sometimes hard to exercise when you are having a "flare up". But, I'm gonna hang in there. I'm addicted to the exercise thing! How cool is that? Never thought I'd say that about myself!

One of my coworkers who has RA and who had VBG just went to a holistic nutritionist/rhematologist or something like that. I can find out specifically what she was told to take. I know that she was already taking SAM-E, MSM, roasted seaweed (from the acupunturist that she tried) and gin soaked golden raisins (9 taken twice a day - and use good gin that is distilled). I'm not kidding - apparently the ginned up raisins have been a treatment for arthritis for years and years.
Anyway, I know that this guy is going to have her go on higher doses of MSM, I believe. Also she is supposed to take something known as the Myers ****tail - it is vitamins put right into ones veins.

Lori, You might want to try water aerobics if you can. That is what I do . I have had a lot of knee problems and before my RNY they were talking knee replacement after I lost the weight. My knees are a lot better now that I have been loosing weight but still hurt from time to time. Water aerobics is what they recommend for anyone that has knee replacement or hip replacement surgery. I have been doing it since one week after my RNY surgery. It is great. The water keeps you from putting so much pressure on your joinmts and it also has a lot of resistance. Besides you don't sweat as a general rule. Like I said before I think it is great. There are a lot of articules about it on line if you would like to read them. Hope this helps and you are able to give this a try.
