Help! Not losing enough!!!!!
Ok,tell me please!!!!!!!!! I am 8 months out and I have only lost 58lbs. I have hypothyroidism and I have problems eating. I mean I eat healthy maybe 80% of the time. I didn't work out until about 3 months ago. I work out and then I stop and then I start up again. 8 months and only 58lbs. I have not been losing anymore,is this it for me? I should at least be under 200lbs by now. What gives? I am drinking my protien, vits and plenty of water,my thyroids are under contol now. I am so bummed out. Is anyone else going thru this?

Rose, I don't know anything about Hypothyroidism, but I know thyroid problems, in general, can cause problems with weight, weightloss, etc. Have you talked to your surgeon or an endocrinoligist about the affect it could be having on your loss?
What kind of things are you eating? What's a typical day for you? Have you tried logging your food on Fitday? I know it's been a life-saver for me. It's on the web and totally free. Sometimes, it helps you see things you wouldn't have seen and allows you to make adjustments to your diet.
As for not losing anymore, I'm to the point now where I only lose about one week out of the month, typically the week right before my period.
Hi Becky, A typical day for me goes like this,
B~ Protein drink ( Muscle Milk has 32g per 2 scoops)
s~ Banana,crackers
L~ Ham salad
S~ protein drink
D~Meatball soup or Salad or cereal. (Depends on if I feel like cooking )
I don't get fit-day sometimes. But I will start login in my intake. Because the menu above isn't what I always eat. I do this type of eating at least 70-80% of the time. Thanks so much for your help Becky. I hope you have a wonderful day.

I'd be interested to see what kind of calorie intake you're getting... From your other posts, it looks like you're doing a fair amount of exercise - could be you're not getting ENOUGH calories... Your body will hold on to everything it has if it thinks it's starving.
My other thought is about carbs. It doesn't look like on a typical day you're getting a LOT of carbs, but some people are so incredibly carb-sensitive that anything over 20 or so grams can stall them out.
Just a couple of thoughts...
You know Becky there are times that I crave carbs so bad. I do give in to them, but not like before. I would have a piece of WHITE bread or a dinner roll. And then there are times that I will stay completley away. Can I say that once in a great while I will eat and even tho I'm full I will have a bite of fruit or whatever I have around, this is usually around my cycle. What makes me mad is that I am already full.

No its not just you. Welcome to my world, I had all but given up after losing only 55lbs. But I refuse because I made to big of a sacrifice to have this surgery. You may have only lost 58lbs, but have you gained anything since your surgery? That is the way that I had to start looking at things. Don't be so bummed out, just increase your water and protein intake and add a little more exercise and I am sure you will begin to see results. I love doing the Walk Away the Pounds workout tapes because they are convenient when I can't get to the gym. Maybe you can find a workout tape or dvd that you can use at home if you don't have access to a treadmill or bike. Good Luck and keep me posted on your progress.

Hi Andrea, I know I am happy about not gaining weight and for the 58lbs. But I trip on myself, all this hard work and the fact that I went thru this surgery only to have lost 58lbs. I don't get it. I do work out at the gym. My husband and I enrolled into 24hour fitness and we go EVERY DAY!!! I do have the Walk the Walk videos, aren't they great! Before surgery I had lost 40lbs on them. I am on the weights for 45 min. and on cardio another 35min. I have started approx.2 weeks ago and I havn't notice a change in me. I started weighing at 266 and I'm still the same, even inches are the same. I do notice that my husband is getting smaller but me,ZILCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so fusterated...... Thank you too for all your good advice Andrea. I wish you the best in your weight loss.
God Bless,
Rosie

If you are doing all that I think you need to speak to your surgeon... perhaps you have a staple line disruption, enlarged stoma, etc. That doesn't make sense at all of course if the other 20-30% of the time you are eating a zillion calories and eating too much sugar that would be a good explanation.... if you are being honest with us (and yourself) then please call your surgeon. Good Luck! Hugs, Stef
I don't have any ins.coverage anymore. So I can't see a surgeon or Nutritionist. I will see a trainer next week, I admit it I don't eat salads, fruits and veggies all of the time,I eat carbs and snacks, but not like I use to before and not enough for me to NOT lose the weight, but enough to curve the cravings. And yes I am being honest with myself and you all. Thanks for your help.

I'm in the same boat!! I lost 85 pounds between May and October and then it just STOPPED!! Now I must admit that started eating a little , um, different and slacked up on the vitamins and stuff so it's pretty much my own fault but STILL!! I don't eat nearly what I used to and even when i do cheat a little it's minimal compared to my binges pre-op. Now instead of a whole bag of Reeses cups it a half of a single cup. Good thing is I haven't gained any weight since October so at least I haven't backslid completely. Keep worknig at it! Psst...I heard that the winter months have an effect on weight too and could cause you to keep weight on. Something to do with our left-over cave man genes or something...That sounds pretty good to me so that's what I'm gonna go with for now!! Keep your chin up, stay positive and motivated! We're all here for you!!
