Capsules?
At what point or are we ever allowed to take capsules again? Can our stomachs ever digest these things again? My doctor prescribed some medication for my herniated disk and it comes in capsule form. I'm already sick of having to unscrew the capsule and choke that nastiest powder down. Any comments?

My doc has pretty much said nothing bigger than a birth control pill (and I have tried and it gets stuck), no sustained release pills ever, same with anti-inflammatories, and capsules. We don't have stomach acid which is needed for the coating on sustained release tablets and to remove the coating on the capsules. The anti-inflammatories (Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, etc.) can give us ulcers (ya know how they say it can cause stomach upset??) because it just sits on our stomach lining without any coating to protect it. One of the girls in my support group, though, said that her doc said anti-inflammatories were okay if you take them with milk or something else that may coat the stomach (or with milk of magnesia or something).
