2 MILES! Wooo Hooo - two stinkin' miles...
I didn't just walk it, friends. I didn't just alternated walking and running. Nope.
I ran two freakin' stinkin' miles non-stop on the treadmill! Go**** felt so fabulous.
Then afterwards I met with a personal trainer to set up a basic weight lifting/fitness program. He said if I'm going to run then I'm working most of the leg muscles quite well so I don't have to do alot of leg machine work.
I'm going to go tomorrow morning and do a cardio warm-up (no running since I ran both Saturday and Sunday) and then do my weight workout prior to work.
Tuesday I'll go and do cardio.
Kathy (feeling very empowered and virtuous)
Congratulations, Kathy
I am envious of your two mile run. I just did 1.4 miles on the treadmill, but not running. I wonder if I'll ever be able to run. I get up to about 2.8mph, but then feel pain in the shins, hips, and knees. I'm telling myself that any pace is good, and keep from pain so I don't have an excuse not to walk. I am planning on rewarding myself with a personal trainer when I reach onederland, another 20 pounds to go. It is my motivation to keep focused on the weight loss.
Keep up the great running,
Debra M.
Debra,
In all honesty, walking at a brisk pace is supposed as good for you if not better than the wear and tear from walking. Running isn't that important. I used to run at 230 lbs and tried to up my distance and maxed out at 5 miles - that was when the knee problems came.
Believe me, you do not want to push your body into a place where it physically hurts. The important thing is not how much you do or how fast you do it but that you do it and do it regularly!
Thanks!
Best wishes, Kathy
I have wanted to run since before my surgery. I tried it one day and lets just say when you have as much belly skin and flab hanging as I do..well it isn't conducive to running! Actually is painful....sighhhhhhh I guess i will wait and someday be able to try again! WTG on your 2 miles I am very proud of you!
