Annoying tightness

Hey all, Last night we went to dinner for my father-in-law's bday. I ate 4 sauteed shrimp, a few small bites of grilled chicken, 3/4 the insides of an eggroll, a few bites of broccoli and a nibble of rice. It was all on a small plate and portion-wise it was what I normally eat. When I got home I felt a 'tightness' right where the xiphoid process is (where the sternum and rib are) and a little more to the left of my rib cage. It was subtly annoying but not pain in any way. It hasn't gone away. It took me a while to pinpoint the location****pt thinking of my pouch and my staples). Hubby thinks I pulled something but noticed it more after I ate because my pouch was full. He also had a thought on maybe it being bad food...although his tummy was fine. Yada yada yada, I called my surgeon's office this morning and talked with the nurse who didn't seem to concerned since I wasn't in any pain. She said she'd call me back after discussing it with my surgeon but she never did (which is weird because they are really good about any of my questions). I wonder if they assume it's a muscle thing??? I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens. FYI: I've had my gallbladder removed so it's not that. It's just a weird "tight" feeling, more noticeable when I move around than when I'm sitting still...sounds muscular right?? Hubby reminded me of all the floorwork I do at night: various crunches and push ups too. It's usually 30 minutes worth including free weights. Anyone have experienced something similar??? Thanks for your time May family! Ana

Geez, that could be so many things. I'm glad you contacted your surgeon. Hopefully you'll hear back tomorrow. Definitely could be a pulled or stretched something 'er other. Me when I get that tightness right by the xyphoid process...it is stuck food. Owie! Luckily I don't do that often and papaya enzyme usually does the trick. I don't leave home without it. Feel better! Oh just some addt'l info: I am able to eat and drink normally and keep everything down. I'm guessing if it were my pouch/intestines I would not be feeling so hot right? Breakfast: Yogurt, later a protein shake snack - 5 strawberries and a few grapes lunch - half a ham/cheese sandwhich, peach snack - sm. piece of chocolate...couldn't resist d - will eat flounder and maybe a salad So things are going down just fine. Dunno.

Dr.'s office called me back. She apologized for not getting back quickly but basically I'm asymptomatic (no nausea, vomitting, major pain, etc.) which doesn't seem to be of any alarm. They said to keep me updated by pager if things change for the worse but he thinks it's muscular and maybe I noticed it more after I ate. Whew. I just wanted to be reassured...now I feel better!
