Hey, where is everyone? I could really use some support with this exercise thing. Please tell me I am not the only one who has to exercise to lose weight. That is just toooooo depressing! I didn't go walking last night so I will get out there tonight and walk 2 miles on the track. Did you do anything active today? Seven

Ah-ha! I was waiting for your post! I've been so bad about exercise lately, and it's really shown on the scale - you're not the only one who needs to exercise to lose weight! I actually MOVED today... alot! We spent 4 hours schlepping motorcycle parts today. Between the walking back and forth and the lifting (some of it was REALLY heavy), I figure it equated to about an hour on the treadmill, an hour of leg lifts (all that deep bending to pick up motors and crap like that) and an hour of arm lifts... Monday, classes start and I'm committed to getting back in the gym on campus. One of my biggest obstacles is I've started smoking again (shame on me) which makes it harder for me to enjoy exercising, but I'm back on the Zyban with a quit date 10 days out - I know that will make a huge difference too. Don't be depressed - you're my HERO when it comes to getting off your butt and working at it!

Ahhhh all that work! That is more than I could handle. So much for a hero - it is 8 pm here and I still haven't done any exercise. My DH promised when the movie his is watching is over he will go with me to the track. I gotta say, without him I probably wouldn't go. But I just have to say to you - good job!

Hi Seven, I work out every day. Today I walked 5 miles. It will be 5.5 tomorrow. I am training with a group to walk a half marathon in April. I also take Pilates one day a week and work out with a trainer 2 days a week. Good thing I live alone so I have time for all this. I do love the working out though. I feel great every day when I am done. Julie

Seven, You are definitely not the only person who has to exercise to lose weight. And, it is my firmly held belief that anyone who is losing and gets to goal without exercise will probably have a hard time keeping the weight off. From all the people I've talked to and what I've read it appears that exercise is the key to long term success with WLS. I feel like I've been through so much, I just can't not reach my goal and keep my weight off! I exercise 5 days a week very consistently. I try to fit in a 6th day when possible. The only way for me to stay so consistent is to go very early in the morning. I meet my neighbor at 5:15 am every day Monday-Friday. We do cardio and strength training that my trainer gives me 4 days a week. I meet with him every 6 weeks to get a new routine. Just when it gets easy, it is time to meet with him again! Then we have just started going to a "circuit jazzercise" class one day a week. Then on Saturdays, I try to make it to a water aerobics class at a different gym that is farther from my house. I didn't make it today, but, I did go to my regular gym and do the workout I would have done if I hadn't started the jazzercise class last Thursday. Today was: 25 minutes of cardio at 4.0 miles an hour Strength Training Opposite Arm Leg Raise SB Wt Crunch Dumbbell Chest Press Supine Dumbbell Triceps Extension Single Leg Dumbbell Curls Band Internal/External Rotation Cable Twist Wide Grip Seated Row Incline Dumbbell Chest Fly w/close grip pull Down It was a killer, but, I was so glad I went. I've had to work on a big cd project today and have sit on my butt the whole rest of the day since I came home! Seven, I think it is important we keep encouraging each other to do the right things for our success with WLS. This is not a magic pill. It takes very hard work, at least it has for me and it sounds like it is for you! Lori 384/263/168

I wish I could say I had the time for a "regular" workout but right now its next to impossible. So..I do the next best thing, for instance, I was a server at Peter Hut yesterday from 3p.m. and I did not clock out until 1 a.m. I stayed on my feet the whole entire time and walked very quickly from table to table and from tables to dishroom, etc. I didn't have time to eat until I got home last night and I had 1 soft taco. I do need to up my liquids at work though and use the restroom more frequently, because I am asking for another bladder infection again. Anyway....it paid off, I lost another pound this morning which puts my weightloss at -112 and puts me only 18 more pounds until my goal!!! I did go to join a new workout center yesterday before work but they haven't quite opened up yet, but as soon as they do that is where I will be several days a week!! Thanks for doing this Seven!

Sounds like a workout to me! It would be a workout for me just to avoid all those delicious hot wings and pepperoni and pasta bakes and cheese and . . . . . mmmmm such good stuff!!
