Missed you all
First I want to say how much I missed you all. I ahven't been on the computer at all. I have been so sick, in the hospital and at the Dr.'s office. I have been having horrible....gut wrenching pain in my stomach only after I eat, and then I throw up. Classic gallbladder symptoms right. Wrong. My gallbladder looks fine. I had an ultrasound, bile scan and a ct scan done, and nothing. I a going to have a endoscopy done on Wednesday. I hope they can figure out what is wrong. I have been having these horrible pains and throwing up since a few days before Christmas. I have found that if I don't eat much, only a bite or two, it isn't too bad. I just can't eat hardly anything though. I also wanted to apologize to my secret pal. But then I realized she doen't know who I am. So to eberyone out there who hasn't gotten their December gift, I may be your secret pal...and I got myself to the Poist office today and mailed it. I am so sorry!!!!! I know....I am a sucky secret pal.
Anyway.....Merry Christmas, Happy New Years,m Happy Kwaanza and Happy Hannukkah to all!!!! I am going to try and catch up on all the new posts. I am so behind on everything at home as well. My kids Christmas presents from Santa are still thrown around all over the living roon floor. I just have no desire or energy to do anything.
Well here is to a great 2006!!!!!!!!!!!
Diane,
I had pain in my side (upper right quadrant just under the edge of my right rib cage) that started in early September. I never had the nausea or vomiting. My pain was more annoying then really painful. It would hurt (ache is a better word) after anything and everything I ate even a protein shake would set it off.
I had a gallbladder ultrasound and HIDA scan (at 33% and < 30% was considered dysfunction) which showed basically nothing. But based on the symptoms alone my surgeon decided that we would remove my gallbladder. I had that surgery mid-October. Even though my tests didn't show gallbladder problems...the pathology on my GB showed it was inflammed and had stones in it.
I bounced back easily from the gallbladder surgery but alas my pain continued. My surgeon was highly concerned so he sent me for a complete abdominal and pelvic CT scan, an MRCP (specialized MRI that looks for gallstones in the bile ducts), endoscopy looking for ulcers (I have a beautiful pink healthy small pouch), etc. Again, nothing was found. Very frustrating.
Strange thing is that starting in early December...the pain wasn't there every day anymore and wasn't there every time I ate something. Over the past weeks, the pain has faded to less and less times. I still get it from time to time but it is lesser and infrequent.
My PCP did say that some folks still have pain after GB surgery and she has found that over time it fades away. Guess she is right though I cannot say that I understand at all.
Being a logical person, I really like to know what the true problem. Not knowing is frustrating to me but seeing that it is improving makes me feel better.
Hope this helps. Don't know if you are experiencing the same or not but thought I'd throw it out there.
Happy New Year to you!
Kathy
