working on christmas

Good morning may buddies and Merry Christmas to each of you. I just was wondering if anyone else had to work today. Everyone else on the day shift was granted leave but someone has to be here so, I work alone today. Our family had the gift opening get together at our house last evening which by the way was our 27th wedding anniversary as well. It was great and all, and I don't really even mind working on Christmas day, but being here all alone, the only nurse on duty here makes me kinda sad. It also makes it harder to stay away from the big box of See's candy that medical records sent to our Dept. I had to move the box to the other room on top of the bookshelves in the back so it would stop calling my name. Well enough Christmas whine. Merry Christmas and Incredible Journey to all. Andrea

Hey Andrea, I am working as well, but its ok

I worked Christmas Eve. Went in at 7 pm and got home Christmas morning at 8am. Not to bad at all. There were about 6 of us on my unit and we delivered 5 Christmas babies! When I got home we opened presents and my mom made breakfast. Then my Mom, Dad Husband and daughter went to my sisters house and let me sleep from 10am till 2 pm when they all came back along with my sisters family. Over the past 19 years I have always worked part of Christmas and have just become use to it. It is a great way to get the rest of your family to do lots of work while I "rest"...LOL

Thanks you guys. The day passed and it wasn't too bad. How great it would be to help deliver babies on Christmas!!! or any other day for that matter. When I started nursing school in 1990, I so wanted to go into L&D. But life didn't take me in that direction after graduation. Andrea
