5 days postop and tired of liquids
I had my surgery on the 5th of Dec. so i'm 5 days out and i'm sick of clear liquids. i haven't eaten any food since the 23rd of Nov. so i'm getting pretty darn hungry. I go for my 1st post op appointment on the 15th but i don't think that i can wait that much longer before trying a protein drink. something besides boullion, water, jello and juice.
I was just wondering if i would be hurting myself if didn't wait until the doctors appointment before trying a protein drink?

I wouldn't consume anything you haven't been told you can, Maria, as much as I know you're going nuts. (I'm only 6 months out and I remember that time vividly.) You can try s/f popsicles...that at least gives you something to chew on. But if you absolutely can't take it, call your nutritionist or your doctor. If you are tolerating everything really well so far, tell them so and see what they say. Right now they are restricting you so much to prevent any possible rupture in your new pouch. Hang in there...the time will fly!
Dawn
Thank you very much Dawn. i know that you are absolutely right and i appreciate your friendly reminder. the popsicles are a good change from boullion & jello and they are tasty as well. i'm sure that i will make it until my appointment now that you've given me a little boost.
With you being just 6 months out, i'm sure that you do remember how i'm feeling. good luck on your journey to slimdom my friend and thank you for the boost.

Maria, have you tried sugar free pudding? That cant hurt. or even sugar free pudding pops they are awesome I loved them when I first came home. I was also not allowed to leave the hospital until i could eat yogurt you can eat yogurt too..I dont know how wrong your dr. would think it is my dr was ok when I went home from the hospital with me eating very well mushed, mashed potatoes thats the first thing I had the day I came home from the hospital I am 6 months out as well and have had thank god,, no problems. I was told when i came home from the hospital i could have anything that was blended and mushed very well as long as i tolerated it i was told it wasnt a problem so pretty much pureed and blended everything. You can always call your dr. or nutritionalist and ask them, it cant hurt to ask they may surprise you and tell you just like my dr. did that if you feel you can handle it you can try it. Pureed foods and really really well mashed foods are not going to hurt you, that is what I was told but every body and every dr. is different. Good luck. Your going to be ok trust me it gets better but do yourself a favor call and as you may be happily surprised.
best wishes
