My wife snapped a shot of me that blew my mind, so I posted it on my profile. When I compare this to the way I looked pre-op, I can hardly believe it. In fact, yesterday, I got the first "I didn't recognize you!" comment. I was supposed to meet a client, whom I hadn't seen since surgery, at a local restaurant, and he kept looking for me, all the while staring right at me!

Tom, Looking great and doing fabulous!!! BTW, what is your goal weight? I wasn't sure how tall you are but weight-wise you started about the same as Rich. At 6'5" he has settled in nicely at 245-250. The extra skin accounts for the excess. He definitely isn't "overweight" though charts would say he still is. To the charts, I say *Bite me*. He looks great. Wears an XL mostly and a 42" waist pants. If skin were removed he'd easily be down to a 38" I would think. Keep those "I didn't know it was you" comments coming. I just got some of those last week myself and loved every minute of it. Kathy

Hi Kathy...I have no goal weight. I have no idea what I "should" weigh, so I'm gonna just keep working at it. I've lost 167 to land at 273 right now. I'm hoping to get down to at least 230. I'm down to a 46" waist easily and will probably soon be down to 44". I'm wearing mostly 2X now, though some 1X are fitting me. Another few months and I should easily be at goal, whatever it is!

Rich's doctor set a goal weight of 292 for him which was down 35% of his body weight or something like that. I guess the doc figured that would put him into a much better health category. We never really set a goal for him but assumed he'd look pretty good around 250. His body seems to like 245-250 plus...looking at him, except for excess skin, there really isn't much else to lose so...GOAL! I'm like you...I really haven't set a goal. I tentative said 160 as an arbitrary figure but figure that I'll know I'm where I want to be when I get there. You are doing fabulous! Kathy

The extra weight of skin and bone density is a struggle for me. I find that I keep looking at numbers to decide when I'm healthy, which isn't good. Right now, my shoulders, neck, feet/hands, face, etc. all look pretty close to normal already. It actually bugs me that my collarbone now sticks out! Gak! But the belly is still where the remaining weight to lose is located. If I ended up at 250, and looked good, I think I'll still have a period of mental adjustment that that weight is healthy for me, instead of 200 or 210 or 220. But if its where I land, and I'm healthy, I'll take it (eventually).
