Good News for a change
Well has been an interesting few days. I went on Wednesday to Ft Lauderdale to see my surgeon. They started iv fluids and we talked about the plan of attack. We decided to have Dr Koches scope me so that we could get a look at Oscar and the ring that is around the outside of the pouch. They also wanted to lazer off some of the scar tissue to see if we could get rid of the stricture. This was all done Thursday morning with great success. I was able to eat Thursday night with no vomiting or even the feeling like I was going too. Only problem is, the pain is still there. The doc was going to send me home and I was panicing. I knew I could not come home and face the pain day in and day out. But they could not find the source of the pain. Thursday night, I was walking the hall of the hospital and ran into the doctors wife (who is also his nurse) I burst in to tears telling her how I feel like everyone thinks the pain is all in my head and that there is nothing wrong. She asked me where the pain was and I showed her. She felt on my belly and says there is definatly a problem there. She agreed to talk to Dr Cox and have him recheck it before they discharge me. Friday morning the Doctor comes in and says Deb (his wife) thinks he missed something. He had me lay back and examine me. He felt nothing. So then he had me stand up. When I did the knot revealed itself. He was like whoa where did that come from. So after examining me he said I think we need to do surgey today. Seems the pain is comming from my intestines being incarcerated in a hernia. This is another reason that I am throwing up. Nothing could get through the kink. So off to surgery again. All went well I am now stitched from my breast bone to my belly button. He went down the old RNY scar so that there would not be any other tracks. I am home now and able to eat little bits without throwing up. The doc did say that my pouch is still the original size. No stretching at all. So hopefull now that I can eat, I can start to lose again. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer..
Thanks to all the Mayers and their support and prayers. I may not say much often but I do appreciate all of you and the support you have given me.
Hi Kat,
I completely know the pain you had!!! I had an incarcerated bowel in an umbilical hernia 2 years ago! Oh my god I have never felt pain. You are so lucky that your intestine didn't rupture. I'm really glad they caught it and were able to fix the hernia and sew you back up good as new!
I hope you have a speedy recovery!!
