Hernia

I posted a few days ago about my pregnancy. Now I guess I can tell ya that my hernia is confirmed. I went to the dr yesterday and he confirmed it. It's where one if my incisions popped shortly after I had surgery, when my son picked up his feet after giving me a hug. He didn't understand it would hurt me, and my surgeon said not to worry. Now, however, I get to worry. I have never hurt so much in my life! The back spasms had been bad enough, but now I can't get comfortable in any position.

Lisa, I'm sorry to hear about your hernia! Will they want to do surgery? Lori

Not right now, unless it becomes such a problem that my intestines and/or bowel won't go back thru on it's own. They said probably sometime after the baby is born if I can get thru the pregnancy.

It gets better! I have NEVER heard of this being done before! I went to the ER tonight because of my hernia and my back. My hernia was behaving, but my back was not. They did a test to check for an UTI, and I was clear, so obviously it IS my back that hurts. The doctor gives me a prescription for 12 Vicodin to hold me over to get in to see OB or someone. Then she says that if I have more problems NOT to come back because they don't have labor and delivery at their hospital. HUH??? I've never heard of such a thing!! An ER saying if you're hurt don't come back?!? We're less than 2 miles from the civilian ER and about 20 miles from the military hospital. Lovely. Hope I never have a true emergency with this pregnancy!!

If you don't mind my asking, was yours in the same place as mine? Upper abdomin, from my surgery? If so, how did they fix it? Lap surgery as an outpatient? I've never had one before, so not sure what to expect. Would be nice, if I can wait that long, to have it done when they do the scheduled C-section, but will have to see.

I know the pain you are in. I have a hernia the size of a cantelope. I had it before the bypass in May. It was so big the surgeon could not close it. They had to hold me together with surgical binders till I healed. I have lost about 80 pounds. I went to see my doctor last week, he said I have lost enough weight that he can probably close me now with the help of a plastic surgeon to help spread out the abdoninal wall. I can actually see my food snaking through my intestions. Since there was no fashia there, my intestions stuck to my skin over the hernia. I cant wait to get mine fixed in May when my college year is over. Jeanie Hudson, Texas
