Question for Everyone
Cindee,
While I reached Century Club status today...I didn't do it in just over 6 months. I include the 32 lbs I lose on my pre-op diet. So, for me, since surgery on 5/20 - I've lost 68 lbs.
If you are concerned about what you are eating and such, post a typical day's menu for folks to look at. Personally, I think you are doing great!!!
My surgeon said they hope for 70% of the excess weight to be lost in the first year. He congratulated me on being there in 6 months and I corrected him and said that actually it was 9 months because my lose includes my 3 month pre-op diet (my surgery was delayed due to having to have back surgery first). So, I'm still ahead of the game. Though, to me I've lost 85% of the excess. The "ideal" weight they have in the computer is ludicrous. (140? Me? I'm 5'7.5" with size 12 feet. Swedish bones. No way, no how)

Hi Cindee, Thanks for opening this subject. It is good to read the others comments and struggles. I also feel like a very slow loser. I have lost 68 lbs. since surgery. I am delighted to see so many who have made it to 100 lb loss and more. But secretly I have felt very ashamed that my progress pales in comparison. I know, I know we should never compare. But I ask you ...as all of us are recently MORBIDLY OBESE, how many of us have such super high self esteem to not be tempted to compare??? My doctor is very happy with my progress also and his PA showed me HIS projected wgt. loss for me at one year and that as of 1 month ago I was only short 20 lbs. in only 6 months. I think for me, I have to remember that whenever I feel greater than or LESS THAN others I am missing the mark. Why can't it FEEL OK to be a slow loser???
I dunno. I'm working on that one. It is nice to be able to share this struggle. Thanks,
Mary

I'm with you I was feeling like I was doing something wrong, I am only at 92 pounds since surgery, I only lost 3 pounds before surgery, I have been at my 230 mark for about 6 weeks and don't feel like it will ever go down. Sometimes I get the munchies so bad, so I stick with raw veggies hoping that cures it.

Cindee,
Alot of people are adding their pre-surg. wt. loss. I lost and regained the same 10 lb.s over and over in the 6 months of weigh****chers I was required to participate in before my insurance co. would approve my surg. I don't count those. I count from the day of surg.. So, since 5-02-05 I've lost 67 lb.s. So, you see you are doing great! I've been a slow loser right out of the gate but, at least I'm losing.
