Question for Everyone
I want to start out by saying I think it's just wonderful that so many of you are close to losing 100 lbs and entering the Century Club.
My question is: am I doing something wrong? I'm only at the 80 lbs mark - I'm very pleased with my loss and feel great but am wondering if I'm not doing something I should be or if I'm eating too much.
Does anyone have any helpful hints?
Thanks.

Hey, not everyone! I saw that your BMI was near mine. I had my surgery on 5/23 and I'm down 76. Some lose fast, some slow. I think we are about average. I was a little concerned but when I saw my doctor for my 6 mo., he said I was doing great! So, as long as you are following the program, be happy with what you've accomplished. Try not to get discouraged (I know...easier said than done!), you are doing awesome. We'll make it to that 100 lb mark sooner or later!

Cindee,
You are doing an amazing job!!!!! Everyone loses weight at different rates. There are a lot of determinig factors, including your own body's metabolism, the individual size of your pouch, how much intestine was bypassed, etc.... It also is a consideration how much weight you lost pre-op. For example, I lost 25 pounds pre op, so that was my "easy" weight. After surgery my weight came off slower than others who didn't lose any weight pre op.
When I post my total numbers, I count those pre-op 25 lbs because in my opinion every bloody pound counts.
I started at 322 at my original consultation. Day of surgery I was 297. Today I am 227. I have only lost 70 pounds since my surgery and a total of 95 pounds.
I was on a plateau for 2 months! The scale finally just started moving again for me.
So I don't think you are doing anything wrong, as long as you are watching what you eat, getting in your protein and water and vitamins, then just keep up the good work!

Hi Cindee,
I included the weight that I lost pre-op since my surgeon put me on a pre-op diet. Post-op, my weight loss is 80-something pounds - I'm too lazy to do the math - but its almost 100 altogether, pre- and post-op. Anyway, you're doing an awesome job! If you're not doing it already, try to get in some form of exercise as often as you can. Keep up the good work! Hugs, Tracy
I have been thinking the same thing and it makes me kinda depressed thats why everytime I see a post like how much someone has lost I don't open it. I am happy for them and all but I can take the torture to my self esteem.
I am 6 months Post op and have lost 88 lbs.
I had told my self I wanted to be below 200 lbs by my 19th bday (the end of December) but I doubt that is gonna happen I need to lose 11.5 lbs in a month. I set this goal back in April.
Good Luck!

Cindy,
I lost 20 lbs pre-op and 92 lbs since my surgery...most of us are counting our pre-op loss, but, it should count! It was work all right!
You are doing great. There is no other way you could have lost 80 lbs in 6 months, right?
Please feel good about what you've done. You deserve it!

Hey Cindee...
Thanks for the post, and thanks to my fellow maysters for the great responses. I too have only lost 85 lbs since surgery. I sometimes felt depressed looking at others results. However... I feel awesome...and I am happy to be where I am. But I sure can relate. ONLY 85 lbs.. think about it.. in 6 months.. its really truly awesome.
Hugs to you all!
