OK, according to my surgeon's office. I need a multi - vitamin. Then I need whatever my labs dictate that I need. Sooooo, my three month labs showed I needed nothing (so the surgeon's office said) but my iron was low, and my b-12 was high. Well, I followed the surgeon's orders. However, now I'm researching on my own the benefit of vitmains BEFORE the labs go south - duh, seems like a no brainer to my simple mind. Here's what I'm looking at taking. Iron Vitamin C (read to take together with the iron but don't remember why) Zinc Calcium Citrate w/ Vit. D & Mag. B Complex My regular multi vitamin Hair, Sking and Nails (for the biotin) Now for the question.............. Can you take too much of any of these???????????? I'm TOTALLY clueless. I've never been a pill taker and have never taken a vitamin before wls (except prenatal's while pregnant). I'll welcome any information and/or advice in this area. Thanks laurie

Vitamin C helps with Iron absorptions that is why they are taken together. Even if you have "high" B12 depending on what the value is - you STILL need to be taking it. The lab value can appear normal or even high but your body isn't utilizing it properly. Be careful! I take 2 multi-vitamins (Centrum Silver Chewables) a day. You can take too much iron and get iron toxicity. I take 2 Vitron C a day. I forget how much iron that is giving me. I'll look it up later. This is as I was instructed to do. Calcium you should probably be taking 2000 mg a day in 500 mg incrememnts since bodies only absorb 500 mg at a time. Kathy
