Update on me (Kinda Long)

First I would like to thank Becky Sue for worrying about me and sending me an email to make sure I was ok. Thanks for careing. I have been battling for the last few weeks. Spent a couple days in the hospital vomiting blood and they still don't know why. I am having pain in my belly and still can't eat. The weightloss is slowing, I am down about 115 pounds now. Still have about 80 to go. Right now I would go back to 385 just to feel better. On Wednesday, I am going to a new doctor that has helped several WLS patients in the past that no one else could help. Hopefully he will be able to figure out what is going on. Last week when they did yet another CAT scan it showed my spleen is enlarged. My son has mono which affects the spleen so I have to have blood work done to see if I have mono. All my labs are coming back fine so the docs are confused as am I. Just know that I am tired of feeling like crap. On an average day, I get about 1 1/2 oz of food down. Keeping it is a different story. Nothing wants to stay down. I am betting that I have another stricture but unless they scope me they can't find that out. I am 5 1/2 months out and still can't get more than 40 oz of fluids a day which means I stay dehydrated. If I am able to get my meds and vitamins down, there is a great chance of them coming back to visit. Right now I am tired of feeling bad and spend alot of time laying down with a heating pad because the pain is so bad. I try to avoid pain meds unless hubby is home with me because of the kids. I only come online to check my email then I sign off. I owe everyone here on the May board an appology for not being there for you all but right now I am not sure I am here for me. Thanks for listening, keep up the great work. Kat

Dear Kat, I was just praying for you last night. I noticed also that you hadn't been posting. I have been concerned about your ulcer situation and am honestly elated you will be seeing another doctor. We will pray with you that he/she is wise and alert and discerning. You really need to be cared for by someone who knows what they are doing. If your son has mono and you being in a weakened condition due to all these medical issues may very well have gotten a touch of it. It is especially easy to get if your immune system is taxed. I had it a few yrs ago for quite a while and my daughter got it from me. (the other way around) Try to get some rest and I hope you will begin to feel much better very soon. I know it must be so devestating to have gone through so much for so long after this wls. I am so sorry you have had to go through this trial. I truly hope the new doctor will swiftly turn things around so you can feel well at last and get on with your life and enjoy the fruit of your weight loss. You mentioned being sorry you haven't been here for us, Well let me say,You have had a lot to cope with and when going through so much how could you do more than just try to keep your head above water? We are, for the most part, doing pretty well. Kathy is in pain and waiting on more tests to see the source. She, like you, has been going through so much also, for sooo long. Do you have family or friends that can come over to help you out? Taking care of a family when you are ill is tough, worse some days than others for sure. I Wish some of us lived nearby so we could help out in some way. God bless you Kat T. You are loved and missed and we all will be holding you up in prayer. Hang on, OK, Mary

Kat, Bless your heart! I'm so glad to hear from you! The others are absolutely right, you don't owe anyone an apology. I am delighted that you have an appointment with a Dr. who has been able to help others with challenges after wls. I hope that the new Dr. can identify the problem quickly and help you get to feeling absolutely wonderful immediately. Please know that my prayers are with you and I will continue to keep you and your health in prayers. God bless you and when you feel like it, let us know how you're doing. Big Hugs, Wanda

Hi Kat, We've all been thinking about you and your family. The most important thing right now is to continue to find help to resolve the problems. You will get through this, and it does sound like you have another stricture. My docs say that if someone has a bad stricture they usually only have to fix it up to twice, and then it's fine. I hope you can start to get some resolve with these issues. I'm sure you'll start feeling better when you can get some nutrition and hydration in your body. It soundsl like you have a great supportive family, and we're here to support you too. Angela Seely
