Challenge for November
Okay guys and gals, I want to confess!!! I haven't been exercising like I should. These last few months have drained me and after teaching Kindergarten all day, coming home with my own Kindergartner and 1 year old, etc. I find myself too tired to exercise...(can I count sex???lol)
I finally told myself to do SOMETHING!!! So a few weeks ago I began doing crunches and upper arm work when the kids are tucked in and I'm watching tv. Well, my arms are looking mighty good but I felt I needed something more so I put on my running shoes....that I normally use to just walk...I got on my treadmill (after dusting it a few times) and I RAN. I actually ran!!! I ran for 15 minutes NONSTOP and I wasn't exhausted. Today was day 2 and I actually looked forward to this new 'running' business. I even thought to myself, "Hey, maybe I can do one of those 5K or 1K or whatever races and actually run instead of walk!!"
So I have a new goal that has nothing to do with weight or a size but (dare I say it) exercise!! I want to keep this up. I'm also very curious to see what this new change will do to my weight as well as my physique.
So my challenge to my May buddies is : get out and exercise. Walk, run, pick up some weights, park far away from entrances, take the stairs, have extra sex, whatever it is you need to do, DO it!
I'm exactly one week from my 6 month anniversary but won't see dr. until the 22nd. I can't wait for that appointment!!!

I second that confession. I haven't been exercising either. I am limited because of this hernia but I can still be doing something and I've been doing NOTHING for weeks now!!!
OK, I'll get off my boney butt and get back to work to. I need to work on the arms for sure!!!

Ana,
This is a great challenge for everyone. I am not sure why, but, I got bit by the exercise bug about 13 weeks out. For the first 8 weeks after that I walked for 50 minutes 5 days a week. Then I joined a gym and got a trainer. I only meet with him once every six weeks, but, it has really helped. So, now I go to the gym 5 days a week at 5:30 am (yes, 5:30 am! I drag out of bed each day, but feel so great when I'm finished!) I do 2 days of cardio (I mix it up with 20 minutes treadmill, 20 minutes recumbant bike and 5 minutes eliptical, then I walk 2 laps on the track.) On the other 3 days of the week, I do 15 minutes of the treadmill, then I do strength training for 45 minutes. Then on most Saturdays, I go to water aerobics. I've been very solidly following this routine for the past 8 weeks. For the first month it was hard, now I'm a real "gym rat", which my trainer tells me is the name for people who go to the gym everyday no matter what....can you believe someone can call me that? I've always hated exercise before now!
Anyway, I'm 5.5 months out. I've lost 104 lbs. I still have a long way to go, but really feel great! I credit the exercise above every thing else!
