How much have you lost?
Hi Irene,
I also have plateaus for a couple weeks at a time, and then I'll lose a pound or two. I've lost a total of 61 pounds, and I have 39 more to go. At my 6-month check up, I asked the doc about it, and he stated I was right on track, since I've lost 53% of my excess weight. They generally expect patients to lose about 70% of their excess weight in the first year and the remaining 30% at 18 months post surgery. He also stated that it takes a 500 calorie per day reduction to lose a pound a week (I hope I'm remembering this right). As you weigh less, it takes less calories to power your body, and thus, the window of calorie reduction is less, so it takes longer to lose weight as we get closer to goal. I hope that makes sense.
I agree in changing things up. Analyze your calorie intake -- are you getting more fat or carbs than you used to? Evil carbs always seem to slow me down!
Good luck and keep up the great work! Just don't give up! It's a lifetime of change!

Angie,
Thanks so much for all that great information. If I did my math correctly then I also have lost 53% of my excess weight. My personal goal is 160. I would be happy with 175. But if I needed to lose 140 lbs then I have lost 53% of that. I am not as far of the track as I thought. I agree I need to go back to square one & watch my calories, up my protein. I am one of those people that nothing I eat bothers me, that has been a blessing and a curse.
Thanks so much & YOU keep up the great work!
Irene
Hi Irene:
I agree with everyone's post. Protien, Water, excersise.
I'm 5 months out now and down -111 pounds. I have been on a plateau now for 5 weeks today, but when I got on the scale it FINALLY moved!!!!! I've uped my protien, made sure I've eaten breakfast, and uped my liquids.
Check out my profile.
Your doing great, I was really depressed last week and I just kept telling myself my body is catching up with my weight loss.
Best of Luck!!~~
