It has been a while since I logged on here. I am so excited to see how well most everyone is doing. I seem to be in/on/having a very long plateau of NO weight loss. I am down 75 lbs since 5/3 [started at 300] & I am very happy about that, but I have had NO loss in about 5 weeks. How is everyone else coming along? Is anyone else having the same problem? I am afraid I have reached the end of my weight loss. Please encourage me. Irene

Hello- 75 lbs is awesome!!! My weight loss is slow, I get about 8 to 15 lbs a month that I lose. Sometimes less. I just went for my 6 month check up. I went early but it was bc of my college class schedule. I weigh 160.4 lbs which was the 27th which put me losing 71 lbs. I weighed today and I weigh 159.5 lbs which is so awesome for me bc now I lack 1 lb until I'm just overweight. I make mini goals so that I will be excited. Like mine was to be overweight. Which I have about reached. My goal was to by Oct 14th LOL Not close. You will get there! Trust me! It just takes time. For me after so long my weight loss has slowed definately. Which is fine w/me. You will start losing. I have heard that try to get in more protein and that breaks it. I had one recently and lost 3 lbs I ate McDonalds chicken nuggets i had to there was nothing else to eat. Dunno why!!! LOL it helped but it did. You would think it didn't. But don't worry you are doing amazing and before you know it you will be to your goal. After all your just 25 lbs away from the century club!!! Which is awesome!!!! I wish you the best. ~April~ Lap Rny May 13, 2005 21 yrs old, 5'1 231 / 159.5 / 120

April, I apologize to everyone it has taken me all day to reply. Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I did read that upping the protein & water may help. Tomorrow is a brand new day & I am giving that a try. You are doing wonderfully. Good Luck Irene

I'm down 61 lbs since surgery 5/20. Lost just over 8 lbs a month for the past two months. I'm happy with that. I lost 32 lbs prior to surgery on my pre-op diet so I'm down 93 lbs since mid-Feb with about 23 lbs to go to my goal. I haven't had any multi-week plateaus yet but seem to be losing more in spurts. Lose nothing one week then lose a bit the next two and so on. How much protein are you getting in a day? Do you take protein shakes? Sometimes upping the amount of protein you take in seems to get things moving again. Sometimes just varying your daily intake of calories a day can shake things up. Also, varying exercise too. Our bodies adjust to "routines". If you try to stick to say 1000 cals a day...have 1200 one day and then 900 the next. Mix it up. Good luck, Kathy

I have been really slow at losing the weight recently. Struggle to get 1 to 2 lbs a week. My typical diet is a Slimfast Lo Carb shake (20 gr Protein) in the morning, 6-8 oz of food at lunch (usually another 15-20 gr of protein), 1 oz of cheese (7 gr), dinner (20-30 gr prot), 8 oz buttermilk before bed (12 gr). Last Thursday I started adding a powdered protein mix to the Slimfast (15 to 24 gr) and I started losing again. I've lost about 3 lbs in 3 days. I also took a short break from exercising (haven't exercised since last Wednesday). I'm not sure if it was the change to my system or if my body was ready to lose anyway. Try adding a little protein mix to something and see if that doesn't jump start you again. Linda

Try cutting your meal portions to 4-6 oz instead of 6-8. Just a suggestion.
