A few questions
Hey guys, I've never posted here but I have a coule of questions.
How much are you all able to eat?
Are your senses more sensitive?
It seems like it depends on the food as to how much I can eat. I can eat a good amount of a salad but I just can not stand meat. It seems like 1/3 of the time I eat something with meat in it I get sick and it up! It is really frustrating.
Another factor that contributes to me is that I am SUPER sensitive to smell. For example, driving back to school one day and smelling a skunk outside made me and when my boyfriend poots I too! That last one is pretty funny, I just hate the weird way smells are getting to me! I guess I was just wondering if your sensitivity level has increased?
Thanks for any help!

Hi there, twin sister! We have the same date!
I typically still measure my food, or "eyeball" the 1/2 cup I'm supposed to be eating right now, but on occasion, I don't. I've noticed that the denser it is, the less it takes to eat. For instance, I can eat a cup to a cup and a half of salad, but only about 3 oz of steak or chicken. That makes sense though - there's a high water content in lettuce and when you chew it down, it's almost nothing.
Meat doesn't make me sick, but I know a lot of people who have problems with it. Make sure it's really really moist. Keep trying it, but you can also get protein from beans and dairy products.
As for the smells, early out, I almost couldn't live in my home because I was so sensitive to the smells. Between the dogs and the cat box, not to mention two little rugrats of the 2-legged variety, my house smelled HORRIBLE to me. Same thing with driving past fast-food restaraunts, etc. Over time, it's improved for me, but I'm still more sensitive than I think I was pre-op.
Hi Amber!
I'm glad you posted! How much I can eat really depends on how I'm feeling and how long it's been since I last ate. I typically don't eat much at all. For example, last night we went to a Mexican restaurant. I ordered a quesidilla, and ate about 1/3 of it. Today for lunch I ate another third and my husband at the rest. I do good with steak or beef. I typically get sick more often on chicken. I think it's due to difficulty getting it chewed thoroughly. I do very well with fish and seafood. Since I struggle to get in all of my protein, I don't eat lots of veggies or salad, but do enjoy them a little bit.
I haven't noticed increased sensitivity to smells, but I know everyone is different, so this may just be one effect that you're experiencing that I'm not.
Hope you continue to do well!

Hi Amber
Welcome to the May Board.
I can eat about 3-4 oz of "regular" protein like chicken, beef and fish. But I can tolerate almost 2 cups of liquid like protein shakes, milk and soup. I don't eat salad mostly just cooked veggies like brocolli and califlower. All that fiber is just too much sometimes.
As for my sense of smell. I attributed much of its increased sensitivity to having quite smoking but some may be from surgery. Fast food smells like s#*$ to me now. I can barely stand the smell of grease cooking anywhere!
Hope that helps some!

Hi Amber,
I can definatly relate to the smell thing. Something as simple as my sons cologne or the smell of the kids dirty tennis shoes is enough to make me . Any smell that is out of the ordinary is enough to make me lose it. I have learned to avoid alot of them to the point of driving a different direction so that I don't have to sit in front of the light at Mcdonalds. Then again I have a very grouchy pouch and I think he looks for reasons to
I am still on about 1 1/2 oz of food. Most meats don't settle well with me. Beef is about the only thing that Oscar the grouch pouch likes.
