Calling all of us out!
Okay, since so many of us have been snacking and "forgetting" to exercise (or "not having time") lately, I am calling all of us out on our commitment to do less snacking and more exercising this week.
How's everyone doing? Got anything you want to get off your chest?
For my part, I did resist the dreaded trail mix the other day, but snacked on something else (high protein) instead.
I didn't exercise a LOT on Sunday, but I did walk a little and play basketball with my son.
This morning I got up early to work out before I started my day. It felt great! However, I'm snacking on that !#%#$% trail mix. Someone stop me!!!!

No particular snacking issues...though I did find some "thoughts of snacking" running through my head. Definitely "head hunger". And definitely based out of a blah mood. Got passed it unscathed for which I am grateful.
As for exercise, definitely nix here. Still sore from my gallbladder surgery and still dealing with the pain from whatever is causing the pain that I thought was the gallbladder to begin with. Follow that?
Right now, got to focus on pain management so that I can exercise and feel good about it. Very hard right now. I did just go do over 50 pushups (not in a row but total). And will do some upper body weight work. Trying to do *something*.

I'm 3/4 of the way through a day without any snacking! I was thinking along the same lines as you were, and decided to recommit myself to no snacking. I did think about the pretzels at the office, and I did look towards the peanuts and craisins in our house right now, but have successfully resisted them.
On the workout front, I was supposed to do cardio tonight after therapy, but I'm crampy and have a major headache rolling over my brain, so I thought I'd take it easy tonight. Tomorrow night is workout with trainer, so it will definitely get done!
I will wake up tomorrow and definitely commit to yet another day of no snacking. Taking it one day at a time, but I want to get through an entire week. I would be very happy about that right now!

Man, I was the exercise Nazi for a while. Then, I had that ER business, then my brother came to visit, then I had to get caught up from the ER and brother, and now I've got a bad sinus infection/allergies/cold/whatever the heck it is that's making me feel BLECH! (Congestion, cough, itchy eyes and ears) I've been to the gym about 3 times in the last 3-4 weeks and I HATE it that I've not been. However, when my brother was here we did do a lot of walking places (all over the aquarium up in Vancouver, BC, around the top of a mtn here, etc.) and hubby and I have taken a walk once. Not the kind of working out that I'd like to get back to, but I will SOMETIME hopefully if this ick gets out of my nose and chest.
As far as snacking - I dunno. I mean, I eat about every 3-5 hours or so, but I do guess that sometimes I will go get ONE cheeto (is that the singular of cheetos?? ) or ONE sf cookie or something. Is this snacking? I guess it is. I don't really have planned meal times or anything because sometimes I just don't feel like eating. I do try to make sure that it's been at least 3 hours since I've eaten last (except for those one cheeto dealies) and I try to make sure that whatever goes into my mouth has at least some protein in it (except for my water and/or decaf tea).

Well Julie its day one and I got up and did my walk this morning! Whats in your trail mix? I have to think that is probably a good choice rather than my Dorito's! I actually picked up a granola snack mix today at Costco its got oats, raisins, cranberrys, and asst. nuts, I figured it was a much better choice. I didnt eat much today, so probably low on protein but I also didnt eat Doritos (threw the rest out last night) or make a pit stop at Starbucks this morning so I figure I will call this a good day and look forward to doing it again tomorrow!

Great job, Cary!
My trail mix is Trader Joe's Simply Cashews, Cranberries, and Almonds.
It's not horrible as snack choices go, except that:
1) My surgeon said "no nuts!"
2) I eat way too much of it, way too often
3) I'm not supposed to be snacking at all
I appreciate knowing that we're all in this together.

Its funny about the snacking thing because I am suppose to snack, my doc has us eat 6 meals a day B,S,L,S,D,S so three meals and three snacks. By way too much way to often how much are you really eating, I mean think back to what you would have eaten before, are you really going overboard? Sounds like a healthy snack in small quantities a couple times a day. Keep up the good work I know you can do it, we just have to keep each other on track!

I LOVE U ALL!!!
Lisa, we had the same day yesterday! The worst part is that its taking me longer and longer to get to that point...ya know that point where u can't eat another bite? Been kind of nonexistent this weekend. Anyway I recommitted today as well, when I wanted to snack I made a protein drink. But it is sooo easy for me to snack...ugggghhh.So thats whats going on with me, one day at a time I guess, happy that im not alone.
Hi all!
I have to admit, I have problems with snacking while I'm at work. I work a mentally stressful job and I think snacking got me into trouble initally so I have to be really careful.
Nuts - my surgeon said to eat nuts for the protein. I'm having trouble with any kind of meat, so I have been eating some cashews on occasion. They satisfy the crunchy, salty, urges, but they are high in calories and fat.
I'm at a weight loss stall right now and this post has brought some things to my mind that I have been guilty of. Now I can get back on track! Thanks for the help!
My surgeon only allows 3 meals a day, 4 ounces total. It's been hard because at 5 months out, I'm now getting hungry again. We can have SF jello or popsicles if we need a snack and it counts toward our liquid intake.
Thanks for listening and helping me realize what I may be doing wrong!
