Good Afternoon Maysters.... I'm 5 months out and am experiencing pretty constant joint pain. Now, it's been raining for 3 weeks up here in the NorthEast, and the temps have been in the 40-50 range, and I'm getting old... but .... Is anyone else having this problem? Kate Z

I have arthritis and still have it. When our weather starts to get cloudy and rainy, I sometimes have to take a celebrex. My doctor said it was ok to take it as long as it wasn't too often and not on an empty stomach. Unfortunately, I don't think losing weight will stop arthritis. Less weight on our joints help but won't cure it. Darn!

Hey, KateZzz! You didn't have this problem pre-opm eh? If I had to venture a guess...I'm not a doctor, I just play one on various internet sites...I'd say that when you lose alot of weight your body is confused. You walk a bit differently. Your center of gravity shifts. Your carriage has changed. And along with that comes discomfort as the body tries to find it's new way of moving. The opinions expressed here will be neither confirmed nor denied under penalty of law or some other rubbish. Do ask your primary care doctor and surgeon for their input. Kathy

Thanks Dr. Kathy, I've lead a pretty wild exsistance thus far... broken right ankle 2x, dislocated my right elbow and shoulder. I've always felt pain in these trouble areas. My ankle is one of the reasons I decided to get WLS. This pain is weird though..... I can walk/jog for 2-3 miles everyday without pain, but sit at my desk for 2 hours and I get up looking like a geriatric after an orgy.... I've got a 5 mth check with my surgeon on Thursday, I'll ask him for an opinion (second opinion that is....)... Maybe the jogging is jarring my old bones.... Kate Z

I am having a horrible time with my back. I do have some degenerative disk disease, but my PCP seems to think that my problems are coming from the rapid weight loss. He has me going to physical therapy right now and if that doesn't work, he's going to send me to have an MRI and then possibly schedule a consult with a plastic surgeon. I hope you get to feeling better soon! Heather 267/186/160ish

Kate, I'm 5 months out now also. I was doing really well regarding knee, hip, and back pain. I stopped taking any pain medications for those recurring problems until about two weeks ago. My sciatica (degenerative disc disease) started acting up again. I get a burning pain that runs from my back down my left leg to my foot. It has been wet here in Delaware also and I think the change in temperature and humidity are the culprits. I'm trying to grin and bear it but sometimes I have to take Celebrex also. As far as my knees go, I have a desk job and if I've been sitting too long, I have a hard time getting moving again. I try to make it a point to get up every half hour or so and move around. That seems to loosen me up a bit. Good luck! Jean
