Hi everyone, Hope everyone is doing well... I have been getting nasty cramps in my leg lately the kind that you have to jump out of bed and walk around... it's usually around the calf area... anyone else having this? Im trying to figure out what it is... someone mentioned potassium, but it cant be that, ive been having a bananna every day. It's so painful that even trying to walk it off hurts. Any suggestions? Gia, I wish I could give you advice, but I can't. But I feel ya'. I've had charley horses like that since I was a girl. I usually have a nighttime bout after exercising during the day - like walking or swimming. I've even had cramps in my feet and toes. Ok ... I'm a weirdo I hope you find an answer. If you do, please share! Diane

This happens to me alot when I do not get enough water in, cramps are a sign of dehydration. They are horrible and hard to get rid of when you get them - aren't they?! It is also a sign that you have lost weight fast and your body is changing to accomodate.

I started getting these when I first started strength training. I cut back from 3x per week to 2x and that seems to have helped. Eileen

Gia, Contact your doctor. You could have a potassium deficiency and perhaps a banana just isn't enough. Remember, we don't absorb all that we take in. Gia~ It could still be potassium. I was getting those cramps too. My labwork showed severe potassium deficiency. I started taking OTC supplements and eating bananas on the doctors orders. My next labs came back with potassium deficiency. I now have to take prescription potassium supplements. Some people (especially bulimics like me) are prone to potassium deficiency. Get it checked. Hi Gia ,I been reading older posts as I havent been on the web site for several months. When I get leg cramps its because I have forgotten my calcium. I usually double or triple my next days doses and they go away. hope this helps Miki 05/23/05 252/178
