Plateau/Pause: Frustrating is the Real Name
I'm posting this to try to give *myself* support. I've only lost 3 pounds this month, and nothing in the last week and a half. I know this is to be expected, but I feel like I'll never meet my goal (still over 50 lbs. to go) at this rate.
How can it be possible that I eat 800-900 calories per day and lose *no* weight? (I'm tracking every bite in FitDay.) This doesn't follow the laws of thermodynamics.

Eileen, Im right there with you, I have played with the same 2-4 pounds for 3 weeks now....
I believe our body is readjusting again... I KNOW Im losing inches. Just put on a pair of pants to prove it....
Keep doing what you are doing... Protein, water, exercise, protein, water, exercise.
Are you putting your body in starvation mode ?? getting enuff water... eating tooo many bad carbs...
I feel your pain.... I think all of us Maysters are having issues right now.
good luck
Karen
Eileen - I'm with you honey!!!!! Here's my weight loss by month.
1st month 28 lbs gone
2nd month 29 lbs gone
3rd month 14 lbs gone
4th month 12 lbs gone
5th months 10 lbs gone
I'm doing better, getting more exercise in, eating more calories and LOSING LESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????
It doesn't make much sense, but we just have to do the best we can and keep on going. It will come off in time.

Remember that the best time to lose the weight is the first 6 months but the real window is 12-18 months. You've got time to get that 50 lbs off.
I know that it seems counterintuitive to eat 800 calories a day and not lose weight but our bodies will do what they want when they want to. They take breaks. They take rests. They seem to stop losing yet sometimes lost inches without lbs. They sometimes need to just catch-up from all the losing you've done.
Only thing you can do is make sure that you are getting your vitamins, getting in enough fluids and getting in adequate protein. Your body needs it to prevent muscle loss.
Are you exercising? Have you been doing the same thing for a while now? How about shaking it up a bit and doing something different? Get a bellydancing DVD or a latin dance DVD. Ride a bike instead of walking. Start light jogging instead of the stair monster. Also, add little things into your day...park further away. Take a break and walk up all the stairs in your home or office building a few times - depending on how many flights. If you have stuff to take up or down stairs...break it up and make it take more trips rather than overload yourself. Get a pedometer and wear it all day and see how many steps you take (never trust the mileage on those things they are nuts). Do it over a few days to get an average. Then work to add 10% more a day.
Good luck!
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
You look great! What do you mean: "Remember that the best time to lose the weight is the first 6 months but the real window is 12-18 months. You've got time to get that 50 lbs off." I have only lost 60lbs since my surgery and I know that i need to start working out,but i have read stories about how people have only lost about 75lbs and then they stop. Could this happen to me? I havnt lost anything for about a good 2 months now. I really think that its over for me.My eating habits are really not to good. I find myself wanting to "GRAZE" and it really hurts me. I hate myself for not following thru. I know that im not losing because of my eating habits. I get alot of people tell me to start over again, back to basics and i try but fall right smack down on my butt!!!!I need to get psy help but cant afford it right now. I really hate myself for not following directions.

People lose the most weigth during the first 6 months.
I'm 5 months post-op and I've lost 61 lbs now. I've been losing consistently. No, not as much as others or as fast but I'm going in the right direction and that's all that counts! I don't compare myself to others since everyone loses so differently.
You posted that you haven't lost in two months and your eating habits aren't good. You really answered your own question, dear. I think you know what to do to get things moving again...yes, going back to basics is the way to go and yes exercise should get things going.
I don't know what to tell you. You do know what to do. Doing it - well thats all up to you. You have been given a great tool to lose the weight. You have the power to use that tool to its maximum.
I wish you well and hope that you get back on track!
Hugs, Kathy
