Cold all the time

Hi All ~ Ever since about the second week after surgery, my body has turned into an icicle. I used to always be the warmest in any room, now I'm the coldest. Even in the summertime here in Vegas! When we go out anywhere, I generally wear jeans, long sleeved shirt, and take a jacket with me -- and I'm still cold. If we go out to a club, I drink coffee just to stay warm, even though I don't normally drink coffee. Tea has become my best friend I realize that there is a combination of things that have affected my body temp -- just losing the weight, lowering my hypertension, no diabetes, etc., but it seems like there is more to it. Especially since I started feeling it right after surgery. Anyone experience this or have any ideas?

My husband and I both felt this way immediately after surgery. It is like our body thermostats reset. He is 14 months post-op and feels like over time it has gone back to a more normal-median-middle-of-the-road place. Me, I'm still cold. Kathy

I have no idea if this could be it, it could just be all the stuff you mentioned, but I remember my dad used to have a lot of problems with his "internal thermostat" as he called it, except he was always really hot. He used to keep the thermostat set on 60 degrees in the winter. It turned out it had to do with his Iron count - it was low because he drank so much iced tea and the tannic acid in the tea acts as a blocker for iron absorption. I find that I'm much more sensitive to the temperature and am often chilly, but being that cold, especially in Vegas, to me, seems a little extreme. Again, I have no idea, but it might be something to search on google. Try body temp + vitamin deficiency and see if anything comes up.

The interesting part is both Rich and I felt cold immediately after surgery. Came home cold. Couldn't be a deficiency that fast! Nor could it be that we lost much of our "insulation" either. Just a WLS phenomenon!

Thank you for the ideas! My first round of bloodwork (3 months) was perfect. I am due for more bloodwork at the end of the month, so we'll see if anything turns up. Small price to pay!

Angela, I'm right there with you. I was always "hot-natured". Now I'm always cold and cannot drink enough hot drinks. My blood work has also been just fine, so I'm just glad the weight is gone! ~Wanda
