The Stair Challenge
Who is up for the challenge?
For the past few days or so (and possibly once last week - I forget)... I've made a concerted effort to not only take the stairs to go places in my office building but TWICE A DAY...I walk down two flights to the basement and the walk up 6 flights (120 stairs) to the top of the building and then back down to the second floor where I work and back to my desk. It takes all of about 5 minutes or so...faster than those taking smoking breaks, in fact.
So...I walk up at least 260 stairs and down 260 stairs a day! That's a minimum if I don't go to any other floors to see any folks or get supplies or such. Actually today...I'll add 20 stairs to the up and the down since Rich stopped by to pick something up from me. So thats 280 and 280 = 560.
Who is up for the stair challenge? I challenge folks to take the stairs when they can. Make that extra trip upstairs to get something in the house or downstairs to the basement. Walk the stairs in your office building. Heck, even park at the far corner of the parking lot at the shopping center or your work parking lots. Get those extra steps in. Pound that pavement, folks!
Kathy
Well Kathy, I don't have any stairs at Peter Hut but I will tell you this, I just got home and realized that for 6 hours straight I did not sit down. I stay very busy there. If I am not taking orders on the phone, I will help out at the cutting table or wash dishes or help clean up tables. I also helped out my daughter tonight since she was "closer" and I vacuumed the floors for her. So I do that same thing at least 3 times a week. Not to mention my other job at the Shelter, now we do have stairs there and every 15 minutes I have to do a bedcheck up those stairs so I do that about 8 times a night up and down!!! (oh yea, before I went to work tonight me and the family took our mile walk at the Community Park)........i so proud of myself!!
I'm game. There's no stairs where I work, but there are at school. I always make a point to take the stairs when I go to class, rather than the elevator. I also have 2 sets of stairs at home, one to the basement and one to our bedroom, so I'm up and down quite a bit, anyway.
I have been parking way out at work (we have a humongous facility) but I don't know how long that will last once it gets cold... Brrr...I'll probably start lot-stalking again...
