Mayers help needed
OK brothers and sisters,
I need ur help. I had my surgery on May the 3rd and I have only lost 50lbs. Its seems that i'm not losing any more and i'm getting fusterated. Is anyone else a slow loser?I dont work out like I need to and I do eat normal for a bypasser,so what seems to be the problem? Please let me know if you can relate to my situation.I drink my protein at least 2x a day.
Thank You

Alot has to do with what weight/BMI you started at. The more you have to lose the quicker it comes off. Also slow and steady weight loss is better for your skin and elasticity.
Try not to compare yourself to others instead compare your success to other diets you have tried.
Believe me I know it can be overwhelmong to see posts like "lost 100 lbs in 4 mos" etc...
YOur protein should be up aroud 80gms and make sure you have the minimum of 64 oz liquid a day (at least half if not all decaffinated)
Good Luck

Good Bless you

Well Rosie you pretty much answered your own questions right there in your post. You don't work out as much and you are eating normal (normal before surgery or after?) Anyway, remember what we have had drilled into our heads..."this surgery is only a tool". We have to take the tool and use it to the best of our ability. Just remember that even just walking is great exercise. Just commit yourself to walking around your block once a day. Then the next week, commit to walking twice around..and so on. As far as the eating, start measuring the food again? Or start replacing a meal with just a protein drink. I think you will find after doing these two simple things, you will start to lose again! Hope it helps. And another thing, get on these boards daily and try and update your profile. I see you haven't done that since July? You would be amazed at how much easier things will be for you when you chat with others who are experiencing the same things!! Good Luck!!
Hi Lisa,
I will TRY to go back to basics. I know that I have not updated for awhile nowBut I have a bad case of carpol tunnel and its hard for me to type. I have been wanting to and I will. I PROMISE Thanks for your advice also every little thing that I get from youall will help me. It really does encourages me. I have always failed at diets and I dont want to fail at this one(which is almost the same thing) Because we still need to watch what we eat. Just like I prayed for this surgery to happen I just need to pray for strength and lots of will power to be successfull(sp?)
You are all so helpful.
Thank You
Rosie
Hi Rosie ~
Please don't get discouraged. You are doing wonderfully! Find something in the house that weighs 50 pounds and carry it around. That's what your body and your joints used to carry around 24/7. It is an amazing experience to help you remember where you came from. I, too was stalled at 50 pounds, and my trainer made me walk around the gym with 2 25 pounds weights. It gave me hope and faith to not give up.
The plateau will end. Try mixing things up. If you've always done the same workout, try something different. Or increase your water intake. Or anything! A change just shakes our bodies up. My surgeon does not want us snacking at all, and we eat 3 meals a day. Period. Go back to the guidelines your surgeon gave you and see if there is anything there you can recommit to. It is so easy to fall into old habits -- and those are the ones that hurt us in the first place!
So, take time to reflect on your accomplishments and don't take the way you feel today for granted. I know none of us had surgery just to lose 50 pounds. Hang in there, and never give up, because you WILL lose more weight!
Just as an FYI, my weight loss is now at about 2-3 pounds every 2 weeks. It feels so slow now, but I have to remember that my body is adjusting, and slow healthy weight loss is a good thing, too!
We're all rooting for you!
Angela, Thank you. Every morning I always say that I'm going back to basics and then fail. I am going to try a different excersice routine. I really dont drink that much water and I will try that again. I have read stories about how people have only lost 50-70lbs and I think thats going to happen to me. I have always failed at diets and this is another diet plan and its getting to be hard for me. Thanks for the encouragement.God Bless you.
