Hey, Maysters! What's on Tap this Weekend?

It's 7:30am here, and I'm just enjoying some quiet time. Holden's up but immersed in bad japanimation cartoons (whatever happened to Bugs and Daffy?) and Aaron and Livvie are still sleeping. Livvie's been making a habit of getting in bed with us in the middle of the night, and as annoying as it is, I've just been TOO TIRED to get up in the middle of the night and put her back to bed. So, after the 20th "Mommy! Scoot OVER!" I just decided to get up and enjoy some quiet. I'm taking the kids this morning to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk this morning, and then taking Holden to his dad's. I may go do some clothes shopping at the Goodwill later - I'm tired of wearing the same 4 pairs of pants to work every week. Tomorrow, I'm going to make a big batch of white chili in the crockpot and just take it easy. The house is trashed and needs a good cleaning, but we'll see if that gets done. I go for my follow up on my cervical cancer next Thursday. I'm pretty although I keep telling myself they got it all. Hopefully, I'll get good news. So, what're ya'll doing this weekend? ~~~Sending you the Onderful Vibes~~~ ~~~~~O~N~D~E~R~F~U~L~S~~~~~ ~~~~~~~C'mon Onderfuls~~~~~~~~ Best wishes on your follow-up next week. I will keep lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way, Becky. Hoping that there is tons of great news this coming week - great biopsy news and those Onderfuls! As for us...a laid back weekend. We are having tons of rain. First real rain in 6 weeks or something. We are getting a bunch of it. Today we are going to go and work on our storage unit. We only have a one bedroom condo - its 976 sq ft with a sunroom but not much storage space so we rent one. Some day (~sigh~), we'll get a bigger place and we can have all our "stuff" around. Anyway, we bought some rolling shelves to put in the storage so we can move things around better and easier. So, Rich will be working hard and I'll be supervising between my pesky gallbladder and my back. We may try to catch a movie. I also hope to do some work-work. Went home early a few days this past week since I wasn't feeling good. Need to make up the hours. Plus with surgery next Friday...I can save the wee bit of leave I have...scant hours...if I make time up. Fun, fun, fun... Take care! Kathy

I'm off to get groceries today. YUCK!!! I have no appitite, so getting groceries is a lot of WORK now!!!!! Hey how do you make "white chili"??????????? I've never heard of it but I love chili. Enjoy your weekend and don't worry about the housework, if you clean it - they'll just mess it up again. LOL Laurie 262/172/140/135 (start, current, surgeon's goal, my goal)

Laurie, Here's the standard recipe I use, but I cook it in a crockpot and I've never used the cheese before. Basically, I just follow the directions but once the onions are done, I transfer them to the crockpot, add the broth and chicken to the crockpot and let it simmer all day. White Chicken Chili 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 medium onions, chopped 4 garlic cloves, minced 2 (4 ounce) cans chopped mild green chilies 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano, crumbled 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 3 (16 ounce) cans great northern beans, undrained 6 cups chicken stock or canned chicken broth 4 cups chopped cooked chicken, to taste 3 cups grated monterey jack cheese (about 12 oz.) Heat oil in large pot over medium high heat. Add onions and saute until translucent, about 10 minutes. Stir in garlic, then chilies, cumin, oregano, and cayenne and saute 2 minutes. Add undrained beans and stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and add chicken and cheese to chili and stir until cheese melts.
