Bitterly Jealous husband

My hubby and I were looking at the before and after pics and he comments...and THEN rants about how we are so lucky and that we got to have surgery to lose weight...HE has to by controlling what he eats... NOW...the Miller Girl instinct is to pounce him...and not let up until he apologizes...but tonight I just tried to ignore him... SIGH...obviously he is jealous...but how do I respond...and with what???? HE knows it hasn't been all honey for me...I mean...my surgery went well, and I haven't had problems really...but I HAVE to watch what I eat MORE closely than ever before .... Whatcha think? Anyone else with a bitterly jealous hubby? t

T, I am sorry you are going through this with him. Mine has been so supportive that I would be lost without him. Then again he is so skinny a good wind would blow him away. When the hurricanes come this way we tie him down to the house. Your hubby sounds like he is frustrated with his weight and is lashing out. Think back to when you were pre-op and how you felt when diet after diet failed. He may be experiencing some of this. Sit down and talk to him and tell him how his comments made you feel. The surgery is hard on the whole family not just us. Sometimes we tend to forget that. Best of luck to you, Kat

I think it's hard for those close to us to watch us melting away. To them, it probably DOES look fairly easy. We all know the hardest battle is the one inside our heads, and unless we're talking to ourselves out loud, it just looks like we're doing hunky-dory with no problems. He's right, we ARE lucky! Many people die fighting their insurance companies for WLS and others still have no resources to begin with. Did we all fight the good fight to get where we are? Sure! But lots of others did too and still are struggling with obesity. Give your hubby a big Miller Girl kiss and let him know you love him, even when he IS being a butt-head...

I am sorry that you are going through this, I wish I could say something to help, but I can't. My hubby is 1/2 a twig. LOL! He is 6'3 and weighs 145 lbs. Underweight and I was morbidly obese, now just obese. I will say a prayer for you two. Hope things get better. So far mine has been supportive your will. And underweight i use to think I'd gain his weight for him. lol.
