Yesterday I joined Curves...
Yesterday I joined Curves for women with a friend whos been begging me to go with her. She was so desperate that she offered to pay for the first month and initial fees for me, so I said okay why not. We didnt exersize yesterday, just got weighed and measured and the explained how everything works. The lady asked me about how much weight are you wanting to lose and I said about 40 pounds ( then I will be at goal). Then later on I got to thinking when have I ever went to a gym or weightloss center and said I only wanted to lose 40 pounds? I grinned to myself at this thought. It felt so good to just say 40 instead of 80, 100, and so on. Tommorow is the day my friend and I start and now Im kinda excited about it. I so hate my legs, you know how some people are big all around and have little legs, well not me. If my calves were little even Id be happy. And the dimples oh my god thats even worse. I envy the day Ill be happy with my legs. I havent wore shorts (except at home) in 5 yrs. At Curves the lady asked what is my goal and I said to wear shorts again!
Im rambling now sorry.
Anyway thanks for reading.
Hoping to open more doors along my journey with Curves,
Candy
Okay, I'm going to tell you my experience with Curves. Not real good, sorry. I didn't like the fact that ours was only open until 6:00 Monday through Friday and I didn't like that they were only open on Saturday until Noon. I especially didn't like that they were closed on Sundays. Ours was in a room that was too small and I felt very smothered especially because the machines were so smushed together. We also did not have very friendly people working there a/k/a the owner's daughter who was a skinny little twit who looked anorexic. And another gripe (i have so many!) was that they only let you join if they could take the money out of your checking account automatically (never comfortable with that). As far as the equipment, I think it didn't really do anything that spectacular, nothing a few cans of soup or basic arm and leg exercises wouldn't do. Now, here is the up side (yes, I have one), if thats all you have, its better than nothing. It is cheaper than joining a gym but I did find out it was the same price to join the YMCA and we have alot more equipment there, including treadmills. But good luck to all you ladies who joined Curves I hope that your experience is much better than mine!!
Candy,
The fact that you are committing to a regular exercise routine is fantastic! I can't believe how much better I feel since I've begun to exercise regularly. And my weight loss has really sped up too. I go to the gym and walk for 50 minutes 3-4 days a week and do strength training 3 days a week. I feel great!
