What a couple of days...

So...yesterday I woke up with a bit of an upset stomach. Nothing big, just some kind of 'icky' feeling. I had a physical therapy appointment (bursitis in my right knee) and I went there and just didn't feel that good. Kinda nauseous which happens sometimes since I've had my surgery so I didn't think too much about it. Well, around 11 or so I started feeling really bad and dry heaving. At about noon, I finally had to call my husband as I felt an incredible pain in my upper abdomen like a belt tightening all the way around my mid-section at the level of my xyphoid (bottom of breast bone). If I still had a gall bladder I'd swear that's what it was as that's what it felt like when I had it removed 12 years ago. I was terrified that maybe it was something relating to my surgery - it almost felt like everything was coming apart in there! So, hubby comes home and takes me to the ER and after about 5 hours, 1-1/2 bags of fluids, 2-3 different meds, X-rays, blood work, urinalysis, and lots of dozing off, they had no idea what it was. They said that my x-ray showed a lot of gas in my upper right quadrant, maybe that's what it was. I started feeling a little bit better so they sent me home. I felt okay for about an hour, then it came back with a vengeance. I started dry-heaving again and (sorry) went to the bathroom (TMI, I know) and I felt better. Still a bit icky, but about 80% better. This morning, my stomach felt better, kinda like the day after you get over a bad stomach flu. But...this scratchy throat that I've had for a few day**** me hard. It felt as if I were swallowing razor blades and swollen to the point that I could barely swallow. So...I called my primary care and got in to see her and she said I've either got strep, mono, or a really bad virus. She said my throat looked like raw hamburger. Joy. I called my mom and was saying how I couldn't afford to be sick! I have too much going on. She said (as only a mom can), "Maybe this is God's way of telling you to slow down." Sigh... So, anyway, my question. My husband noticed yesterday while we were waiting at the ER that I had these purple spots on my face. They look like just little pin *****s - not raised, swollen, or anything, just teeny spots all around my right eye (he said it looked like someone hit me). Then later in the day I noticed them around my left eye and under my chin. Now my face has freckles so it's hard to tell if they're elsewhere, but definitely where I mentioned. I'm thinking maybe broken blood vessels from the dry heaving - it was pretty intense - but I've never had anything like that happen before. Or maybe it is part of the virus manifesting itself in the skin?! I dunno - bizarre!! Any ideas?! Michelle

I think you'r right it's probaby broken blood vessels from the dry heaving...I've seen it a couple times in the back of the ambulance when someone has been VERY sick and *heaving* heavily and that's usually where it happens..around the eyes and under the chin....but definitely keep an eye on it!

I'm so sorry you went through this! Are you sure you aren't getting a blockage? I would call your doctor to follow up. Take care, I hope you feel better soon, Ashleigh
