Epigastric Incisional Hernia??? Anyone???

Hi all...well I went to the Dr today to find out what this HUGE lump is that has just appeared in the past week. And yes I was right it is a hernia. Mine is painful....do any of you have experience with this? And what do I have to look forward to? She told me to call my surgeon right away in case it strangulates, but chicken that I am I will call tomorrow and today come to all of you to see if anyone can calm my fears of this! Hi Kathy, I PROMISE I will call tomorrow...I just couldn't today. After waking up from my RNY with the breathing tube in my throat it just scared me away from surgery(not that i was lookin for anymore!) So tonight I just needed to hear what ppls experiences were on it...not that anyone has told me who has had one! lol And tomorrow I call and see what is next. Thank you very very much for the compliment! But in reality that pic hides my rapidly disappearing hair lol. But you and your husband are both true role models! You both are doing amazingly awesome! Believe me...I've gotten creative with my part and hairspray to cover the thinning! Your experience with waking up with a breathing tube is not the norm. I've had two surgeries thus far this year and neither was like that. Best wishes, Kathy

Hi Kathy Thanks for the reassurance. I have had many surgeries in the past and that was my biggest fear with RNY was the breathing tube. Maybe I willed it to happen since I was so focused on it not happening! Who knows. Anyway I am just waiting for someone to be in at the drs office so I can call and find out what to do. I guess the thing bothering me the most is most people say they have no pain and I have pain! So to me thats scary! But hey I'm tough I made it thru WLS and I will make it thru this! Hi Krista, I have a incisional hernia too! I am having surgery on Oct 11 to repair it. I can't wait till to do it with my TT cause I still have 100 lbs to lose... I am so upset about it.... thank god I have no pain... but the thought of having surgery again.. well you know UGH!! Hugs Marla

Hi Marla, Good luck with your surgery. Please keep me posted and let me know how you make out! I too wanted to wait to do it with a TT but I also have over 80 more pounds I want to lose and since I have pain I don't see that as an option. I too am very upset, and the thought of having surgery again just ughhhhh I really dont want to be cut open again. Did your dr say if you have to be cut? Or can they do it lap? Hi Krista, My surgeon indicated that it won't be lap... my RNY was lap.. but this won't be... I'm concerned about the pain and recovery from this. I have 2&1/2 year old triplets... so resting is kinda hard.. plus I can't lift or do things with them now and for a while after the surgery... I'm not a happy camper right now.. but what can you do... I promise to keep you posted with all the details I can find out! Take care and good luck! Hugs Marla
