Gallbladder ultrasound on Friday...

Went to my surgeon today. From the sounds of my symptoms, he is definitely leaning towards gallbladder issues. After doing my post-op check he went over gallbladder surgery and complications with me in case my ultrasound confirms that there are indeed stones or sluge so that I wouldn't have to come back in to talk to him about it. From the sounds of it, it is best to get this done before I get into serious pain or get a stone in the common bile duct. One decent thing is if it can be done lap (and over 90% can be)...I will probably go home the same day. Just what I needed this year...more surgery! I thought my quota was 2. Crappola! Kathy

Kathy, Bless your heart! Four years ago my gall bladder problems were diagnosed with an ultrasound too. I had to have emergency surgery on a Sunday morning, so you definitely want to take care of it before you get to that stage of pain and concern. Good luck and let us know what you find out. Are you still planning to be in Richmond on Saturday? I'm looking forward to meet you! ~Wanda

Kathy, if you don't mind me asking, what were your symptoms. On Sunday, I was having some left epigastric pain. Everything I eat caused me pain. It eventually subsided and I didn't notify my doctor. I haven't had it since, but it was very painful.

My pain is on my right side just below/behind the bottom of my ribcage. Hurts about 30 minutes after eating and lasts for a couple of hours. Fatty foods seem to flare it up more. Any pains I've had on my left side thus far have been attributible to gas. Or so has been my experience... Kathy

Gallbladder surgery is easy. Compared to what you have been through this is a walk in the park. Hope you feel better, Kat

Thanks so much, Kat! I figured heck what's another lap surgery anyway in the big scheme of life. LOL! How are you doing? Any better? Hugs to you, Kathy

Did your doctor put you on Urso Forte after surgery? My surgeon has me on that so I don't have gallbladder issues - I have to take it until 7 months out...and no problems sofar. Its horribly expensive - but luckly my insurance still docs me as a standard copay. Its hard to find too - not many pharmacies even carry it! Best of luck to you!
