HELP: Depression & Anxiety - Am I alone?
Gina,
You are not alone and depression and anxiety are not something you should be ashamed of. You are carrying a lot of stress on your shoulders and your body is just recovering from a major surgery and the changes are happening on a daily basis. First I would have the Doc run some blood work to check all your levels and hormones as well. It may very well be that something is unbalanced or low in your body. If everything checks out and the meds dont seem to be working, ask the Doc to try something else. And if you feel it would help talk to a friend or a therapist. But dont ignore your symptoms, they are real and making you miserable. I went through a brief period of severe depression for the first two weeks post op, but got through it when my Doc prescribed a very low dose antianxiety medication. I still take it as needed. Stress can beat you up physically and emotionally and the only way I get through it is by working out. It is the one thing that I do JUST FOR ME each day. And just 20 mins gets those happy endorphins flowing.
I know most likely nothing I have said is going to help you, but I wanted you to know that there are people who have been where you are and that are here to listen. We care about you and what you are going through. So remember you are NEVER alone.
Big hugs from Ohio
Laura
