I know I should not worry but....

I just need some reassurance because I've been gaining weight. Yes... gaining. I am now at 234 up from 230 a few weeks ago. I'm getting in my protein, vitamins and water although I probably should be eating a little bit more. I could understand it if it was just a stall with no weight loss since I seem to stall every few weeks, but I'm getting a tad concerned because the scale is actually going up rather than not moving at all. I see my surgeon tomorrow for a follow-up and I will mention it. I've told myself not to panic since it's either fluid retention or I'm possibly gaining muscle since I have been weight training. I know there's no way possible that I am regaining fat, but that little voice in the back of my mind keeps telling me negative things and I guess I need to hear someone else say not to worry. Hugs, Tracy

Tracy, One... Do not worry. You R doing GREAT. I started at 313 and had surgery the day before you and I'm only down 63lbs. If you R doing the right things and you are exercising (something I'm not).... You have no where to go but down. We are creatures of the moon. Our bodies retain fluid on a monthly basis. I only weigh myself once a month to avoid those nasty little fluxuations. It took me a long time to get to 313 (my heaviest ever)... I am not expecting to be at goal weight until my birthday in 2007. That gives me 24 months to lose 190 lbs. That works out to about 8lbs / month. Two... Put the scale away.... How do you feel... stronger, healthier, lighter? That's what really counts in the long run... Have A GREAT Day.... Kate Z

Hiya Tracy, I know how you feel. I had that happen a couple of wks ago and I did panic. It stayed on for a couple of weeks then suddenly it dropped 8-9 lbs in a day...get that in a DAY! I guess our bodies are working at stabilizing. Change probably shakes up the equilibrium so the body sorta of spazzes. Is it near your period? Also check the salt in foods cuz , for me it is really easy to hold water. God Bless ya gal, It is so good you will be seeing the surgeon tomorrow and hopefully he can explain what's up. I will be praying for you. Try not to give into the fear and panic. This will soon pass and those numbers will nose dive once again. Keep up the good work. You are a success no matter what those (durn) numbers say! And yer pals here at OH think you are special ! Love, M.

Hi Tracy! It is normal to worry...but I think you hit the nail on the head. If you are weight training I can bet my "last dollar" that the scale is moving that way because of muscle. Keep doing what you are doing and just mention it to your surgeon tomorrow. Hang in there girly! :hugs: B Jay

Same thing happens to me every month when Aunt Flo comes to visit and brings all her baggage! And she brings a lot! I went up too and for 3 weeks stayed there and today it finally went down! It will pass I know it is difficult to hear sometimes, but i think everyone is right too that muscle could be ur answer! Let us know how you made out at the dr! hugssssssss Krista 327/239 -88 lbs~!
