Anyone go tanning?
Happy Tuesday everyone. I'm thinking about starting my tanning ritual again (and yes, I am well aware of the dangers it poses) and I was just wondering if anyone here has tanned since surgery. I know that my scar might darken a bit... anyone know anything about this?
I just miss how good I feel when I look healthy and tan.. now I can see what it feels like to look THINNER, healthy, and tan!
I've been wanting to, but a PS visited one of our support group meetings once and said we shouldn't during rapid weightloss - it can cause your skin to lose even more elasticity and droop even more.
On the other hand, someone on OH told me THEY heard just the opposite, that tanning actually HELPS with the skin...
hmmmm makes a person wonder who this person on OH heard it from. I think if I were you I'd go with what you heard the plastic surgeon say to you... Not that I dont trust what people on here tell me, but if I heard it come from a professional in person I think I'd be more apt to believe it. I reckon I can be tan next summer
Hi Jasmina! I actually started tanning right after my surgery and I think I have a marvalus tan! It didn't do anything different to my skin except make it look better. I did lay a small towel across my incisions because it had only been a month or so after surgery and I wanted to protect them. Other than that I see no harm in it at all. Yea, Yea, there are going to be some that say its bad for you, blah blah blah, but that is true with just about everything these days. Its up to you, its your body.
I dont go tanning, but on my swim breaks I give myself 15 mins of natural sunlight and I have a nice healthy glow, but not enough to do any damage I hope. I have so many scars on my belly from 6 different surgeries I really am not interested in tanning that part of me. I kinda like tan lines. LOL
