Merely, simply....just OVERWEIGHT!
Today I weighed in at 194 lbs. Based on my height of 5' 7.5" that means that my BMI is 29.9 and I am now...merely, simply, plainly and at most - just OVERWEIGHT! Yippee!
This weigh-in of 194 also means that I am now officially down 50 lbs since my lap RNY on 05/20/2005. Yea!
And...with my pre-op weight loss (doctor's requirement) of 32 lbs... I'm down 82 lbs since February 18th.
I'm down from a size 22/24 to a size 14 (well, I'm just fitting into 14s...)
Most importantly than what a scale or a clothing size tells me... I'm off diabetic medication (my hemoglobin A1C was 5.5), off blood pressure medication and off my CPAP.
I set my goal weight at 160. I'm pretty big boned thanks to my Swedish genes (size 12 feet that do not change with weight loss...LOL!) 160 will just barely put me in the "normal" BMI category but that's okay. I do not want to be too thin or look gaunt. I just want to be healthy. Heck, I'm already there. I've already won, haven't I?
Have a great day! I know I will.

Way to go Kathy. Last February did you think That it would ever really happen? That your BMI would ever be near the normal range? And size 14's!!!!!!. I'm still on the obese range but I too have lost 50 lb.s since surg. and I'm floating on clouds. Congrat. I know that you must be feeling great cause I can hear it in your notes.

Having seen my husband go through the surgery and seeing his weight loss - I think I could somewhat imagine losing weight.
I was this weight in the early 1990s so I have some distant memories of being this size on the way down...as well as on the way up. LOL!
Now...when I get into the 170s...we'll talk. I'll be bordering on uncharted adult territory there. Wow!
Thanks, Andrea!
