Need Encouragement!!
Lisa, I'm sooooo there with you. I've noticed a few times over the last two weeks that I am able to eat a slightly higher quantity of food at a sitting than I was during the beginning. I have been very aware of my intake lately and have been watching the scales like a hawk to see how this will change my current rate of weight loss. I am able to eat just about whatever I want (no sugar or fat intolerances) with the exception of doughy bread or cake-like stuff that blocks/clogs my stoma. Fortunately, I have a really high protein staple of foods that are now part of my daily regimen, so I don't usually deviate to bad stuff. (I almost crave protein/meat like I used to crave sugar and carbs.... weird.) Like some of the others said... I think this is all about perspective. It's a greater qty than we've been eating since after surgery, but not close to what we were eating before.
I've thought about this all along. What I have noticed for example is that when I pack my lunches or dish up my dinner, if I put too much food in front of me I will eat it untill I am waaay too full. But, if I measure things out or really pay attention when dishing up I will eat all that is there and be satisfied and not stuffed.
Also, foods like yogurt, thin soups, applesauce and oatmeal are considered liquids not solids. We are and will always be able fit in more of these foods than say a salmon filet and raw veggies.
My Nut told me to be working on geting up to 1 cup or 8oz of (solid) food per meal by my 6 month checkup in Nov. Right now I'm probably at 4-6oz per meal. Ask your surgeon where you should be at for right now.
I bought a digital food scale to help me know that I'm on track. If you get one, after a while of using one you'll notice that you know what meats and things weigh just by looking at them.
Whenever I am feeling bad for eating what I think is a lot, I look at my plate and visualy think of how much more I would have eaten of that meal before surgery.
A side note I wanted to add is here is some info I found on the failed wls board. I am not suggesting anyone follow the program it talks about, but it does have info on soft/liquid foods vs solid foods and how our pouch reacts to them.

As I read these posts I wonder will I ever reach this point. I can usually get 3 bites of food down then I start to sneeze. If I try anything more than that it is going to come back to visit. A huge meal for me would be a slice of turkey from the deli with some cream cheese rolled up inside. I can get about 3/4 of one of these down. I know that I am not getting in enough of anything but really hoping that after Monday I will be having the same issues as everyone else. The only positive I am having is that i am not losing my hair yet.
Lisa, Keep your chin up and remember the basics. Follow your docs plan and I hope it helps. ((((((( LISA)))))))
