Drinking w/meals!?!?!?!
Hello-
I need help w/this. I just have to have a sip after I take a few bits of food. Seems like I drink all of the time tho during the meal. How can I get over this? Being almost 4 months out it seems like I eat often, yet then again I only have 3 meals and then a snack or two. What the doc said I should. Help me w/this. I appreciate it!

Hey April.
I'm a sipper too but I wanted to share some info with you.
We all know that sipping makes the food wash out of the pouch quicker leading to hunger sooner. It also may fill the pouch so that we are not able to eat enough to get in the nutrients we need but, I did not know this, drinking with meals leads to dumping. Thats enough to scare me out of not drinking! The book said that the water dumps the food from the pouch to the intestines too fast, thus the dumping syndrome.
One thing that helps me is to have some kind of gravy/sauce or salad dressing with my meals. And some kind of fruit... seems to help with the thirst and the juice helps get the food down.
Another thing is eating s-l-o-w-l-y----- a big problem of mine.
Hopes this info might help some. Helps me to know I am not the only one having issues

I've been wondering about this also. I don't so much drink with meals it's stuff like cereal with milk and like vegetable soup I was wondering. Before surgery I was a major cereal person every single morning. Not even the sugary ones, my favs are the whole grain. I make homemade vegetable soup a lot in the winter time but I haven't ate any since surgery. I don't have a problem with the soup but I definitely miss the cereal(even though it offers very little protein).
