Every Single FREAKIN' ONE!!!
I took my son to King's Island in Ohio yesterday. It's an amusement park. For those of you who don't know, I took my son last year, for the first time, and couldn't ride any of the rides because I was too big. The whole, completely humiliating story is on my profile - July or August of last year.
Anyway, I told Holden that I would take him back this year after surgery. I was so nervous that I still wouldn't fit that I waited until the very last minute to take him - Friday was their last weekday opening (we wanted to go when it wasn't too busy).
Guess what!
I fit on EVERY SINGLE FREAKING RIDE!!! There was one coaster he wouldn't do, but other than that, we rode pretty much everything, and I didn't have any problems. In fact, I had room to spare! OMG! When we sat down on the first ride and I harnessed myself in, I looked at him and said, "Oh my God, Holden, I fit!" and he said "Yep, you do" and grinned. I was on an absolute high the rest of the day.
We had a blast. We're exhausted, a little beat up (those things are bumpy!) I have bruises on both of my elbows, probably from hanging on so tight! I'm sunburned... Even my scalp - I had my hair in pigtails and the part line is burned... But we had a BALL!
Becky,
Good for you! You're braver than I have been. I have wanted to take my daughter to an amusement park, but am so worried about not fitting in the ride, I haven't tried yet. Now that I've heard your story, perhaps I'll give it a try. What a wonderful, wonderful feeling that must be! I hope you recuperate from your sunburn and bruises, but I know it's all well worth it!
Congratulations!
~Wanda
Thanks, Wanda! The sunburn and bruises, I consider, are badges of honor... Holden's got a bruise under his chin and on his cheek from one of the rides cuz he was hunkered down so far on one of the rides...
I'll tell you what, I was SOOOO nervous when we got there. Last year was so traumatizing to me (I know, kinda dumb to be so traumatized over something like that, but still...) I was SOOOO afraid I still wouldn't fit!
How incredibly fun for you!! I'm going to Disneyland with my hubby, 2 kids, brother, his 4 kids, his fiancee, her two kids, and my parents in February. The last time I went, it was the same thing - I was straining to fit into some rides and other rides I couldn't get into at all. Yes, it is humiliating. I am so looking forward to going in Feb. and getting a real visual of the difference!!
for you!!!

I completely know where your coming from Becky. My husband and I took our 3 year old to the 4-H fair this year, and I wanted to ride the bumper cars with him but was afraid I wouldn't fit. My husband said he knew thats why I was refusing to do it so he insisted. Well, I FIT TOO!!. And it was the best 3 minutes of my life!!! It takes so long to forget that fat mentality that we have been carrying around with us for so many years. I am smilin with ya!!

I had the same experience last weekend. My husbands company picnic was at Six Flags last year and this year. Last year I barely fit, I was so embarrassed and one ride I had to get off because they couldnt get the harness buckled. I was humiliated. This year I fit on everything with no problems at all. I still didnt go back to ride the ride I had to get off of last year, bad memories!

Boy can I relate Becky!! Last year I flew to California to stay with my folks at Christmas. It was so embarrassing to ask for the extenders they use for seat belts on the airplanes. I was one of two individuals that had to raise their hand requesting the extenders. Talk about degrading.
This year I am going once again and will have a big fat smile on my face and not across my hinney (_._)! I cannot wait!
