How many pounds? Am I doing something wrong?
Hi all! It's been awhile since I've been in here. I'm working 3 jobs right now, and frankly, I just don't have time lately. Here's my question: I had a lap RNY on May 23, and I've lost 57 pounds since then. I can eat almost a whole meat patty. Some weeks I don't lose anything. I hear some of you who've had the same surgery at nearly the same time as me are already down 100 pounds. What am I doing wrong? Am I on track? How many pounds have you lost?
Concerned....

My surgery was a day after yours and I have only lost 50 pounds. I feel like I can eat a lot, and sometimes I do. I am very concerned as well, and my surgeons advice was to stay off the message boards so I dont feel the need to compare myself to others. lol So far her advice hasnt worked!

Gina....
YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!!... Remember, we all started this journey from different weights. I think that (if you do the math), you'll see that we've all lost between 20 and 40 % of our "excess" weight. If someone is down 100lbs and started at 400 then.....
I had my RNY on the same day you did... I'm down 63 and I know I'm doing great!!! You didn't respond to the "scoreboard" challenge. If you want to post your start/current/goal #'s, I'll figure out your stats.
Take a look back for my Challenge Results post and you'll get a better picture of how everyone is doing.

Funny!! I had surgery the same day as you and my start weight was the same! To date (just weighed myself tonight)- I have lost 65 lbs. I can also eat alot at times (like I did tonight)- I can eat a whole meat pattie- but I usually don't - I use no-calorie fillers like steamed onions and mushrooms. You are doing fabulous!!
Gina, Then Im doing something wrong too... Ive lost 54 pounds and my surg was 5-13. Everyone loses at a different rate.
Generally the more you have to lose the faster you lost... I only have 116 to lose so I expect to lose more slowly than others.
Please do not compare yourself to others....
Youre doing great!!

I had my surgery the same day. I started at 243 and am down to 194 now. So that is 49lbs and I feel great.
If you feel that you are doing what you are suppose to (in between working 3 jobs) that everything is good!
I can eat a whole morning star garden burger with a slice of cheese on it but I can't each but a bit or two of chicken breast. Go figure!

Ditto what Kate said.
I am down 100 pounds, but I STARTED at nearly 400 pounds. I'm just now getting down to where you started. Sounds about right to me.
I won't tell you to stop comparing yourself, because we all do that and it's natural. I'll just say, keep your comparisons fair and accurate.

Thanks guys! I'm feeling better now. You gave me my perspective back, and isn't that what we're all here for?
I'm so grateful to have this amazing group to turn to. We all support and encourage each other, and it's a wonderful thing, especially in a world where even a smile is hard to come by. Thank you all!!!
