I need to "up" my fiber intake and I'm wondering what others are doing. I recently discovered low sugar Quaker Instant Oatmeal and I have that 3 or 4 times a week. (It's yummy by the way). Any suggestions? Thanks! Diane

Diane, I've taken to having 2 tablespoons of benefiber mixed in this low carb apple drink I have every morning. Or if I mix a shake I throw the 2 tablespoons in it. I'm doing much better with my overall fiber intake now that I can eat vegs and fruit. But, I think it is something that us WLS patients are going to have to keep in the for front of our minds, just like adequate protein and water intake. Lori 384/313/170

I will eat about 1/2 a slice of whole wheat bread or eat a rye cracker or two a day. I try to get my fiber from foods. I've not had any constipation problems, though. Pre-op I would (honest to goodness) go 8-15 times/day. I had my gall bladder taken out 12 years ago and have had problems with diarrhea since then. If for no other reason, I'm happy I had this surgery because since the surgery, I go about every other day. I couldn't be happier!!! I've felt constipated only about twice since surgery but it relieved itself (no pun intended ) within an hour or two. Michelle
