Shop in the Light
I reached the point in my weight loss where I no longer have to buy "Womens" or "Plus Size" clothing. That means I get to "SHOP IN THE LIGHT".
No longer do I have to go to the bottom floor in the store and search for the department hidden behind the maternity clothing or the petites...yhe deep dark corner where the lighting is poor and the choices are very limited (though better than they were in my younger days). The department of shame.
Now, I can actually SHOP IN THE LIGHT.
And it is totally and utterly overwhelming. I remember going to Macys a few weeks ago and wandering aimlessly and lost through department after department and feeling like I was in complete alien territory. I didn't know how to act, what to look at, where to start and most of all what would fit. My mind still sees sizes larger than I really am though I think I'm doing well getting what I see in the mirror recognized. Were others looking at me wondering what I was looking at since obviously nothing in there would fit me. Oh yea, that was my OLD body they would have thought that about. But not the new one.
I ended up retreating out of the store and saving it for yet another day. I could only handle a small dose of what will continue to be my *new shopping world and new shopping experience*.

Carrie,
Thanks!
My great weeks are losses of 1 to 2.5 lbs. I know that is far better than a plateau. I went over two weeks fluctuating .5 of a lb and it was frustrating. Hang in there and things will get moving again!
I try to find reasons to celebrate. There is so much joy that this adventure had given me. Simple things like tying my shoes easier, being able to shop in the "regular" department, walking a mile, etc.... I definitely work hard to figure out things to rejoice over ESPECIALLY non-scale related things.
Hugs, Kathy
