stressed ?? Can I drink?
OK...i will tell my secrets too!!!!
I have drank vodka with club soda and a lime. I have also drank wine. My Dr. told me wine is fine as long as I don't do it every night. I took a few sips of my husbands beer at a Yankees game, and it made me burp really bad. So i will not be having any beer anytime again soon! I am going to a wedding on Saturday night, and will probably be drinking my Vodka and club soda. I figure it is pretty dilluted, so it can't be too bad for me. Plus one or two and i get all tipsy. Nothing like the amount of beer I used to be able to consume.
I am going to be honest and have been planning this all week. I am going to have a bloodymary tomorrow. For some odd reason I have been craving one. I haven't had a bloodymary in years and rarely ever drink. So it has been strange for me to suddenly crave a drink. I haven't had a drip of alcohol in about 7-8 months. I am going to a BBQ/Bonfire tomorrow and have given myself permission to have one. I shared this with my local support group last night and boy did they have unpleasant responses for me. Ohhhwellllll. I figure I exercise everyday, drink plenty of water, plus extra, eat my protein. I can indulge once. In the past I found that when I craved something and deprived myself of it I would break down and double, triple, quadruple the amount I would have had if I only had taken a small bite and gotten rid of the lust when I had the first sensation.

Dear Laura, (And all you Mayers)
I don't know if "stress drinks" are a good idea, Putting anything into our mouths because of strong emotions is a red flag... but.....
I've been on vacation 2x since WLS. Each time I had a ****tail or two. My oberservations are as follows:
1) I've stayed away from ALL carbonated beverages (Dr's orders for life).
2) Even the sweet stuff doesn't make me sick (bummer) but it didn't taste as good as I remember. (Life-long Amaretto lover)
3) You get buzzed REALLY fast (my husband liked that part)
4) You drink much more slowly because you get full fast (especially when having a wine with dinner.
5) You process the Alocohol quicker from start to finish (buzzed quick... done quick)
I don't have a problem with alcohol. My addition was always food. I had this surgery to help me moderate my weight. Everyone is different. You have to decide for yourself what is "right for you".
My lifestyle includes the occassional alcoholic beverage. As long as I don't overdo and adjust for the caloric intake, my Dr and Nut don't have a problem.
All things in Moderation.
Very interested in other people's opinion on Alcohol and WLS....
