Chinese Food

Hello Peoples! I had another experience with chinese food again today. I ate it once, it was FANTASTIC... and then the next time I was in the bathroom before we left the place. I THINK I'm just eating too fast??? Today I again... and went back to my plate... waited about five minutes and started eating again. That time there was no pain and it stayed down. I had about 1 cup total on my plate... that's the most I've ever tried to cram in there. I didn't get it all down, but that's okay.. I feel satisfied and VERY Happy Happy Joy Joy that I was able to eat... Have any of you gone back to eat after ?? This was a first. Usually I just feel sorry for myself all day and try again later. The few times my grouchy pouch has rebelled I've waited 10 - 20 minutes and had some milk. I have discovered that for me at least if I wait too long to eat, I tend to eat much too fast, take bites which are too big and then suffer, big time, while whatever returns the way it came! When it looks like my meal will be delayed for more than 1/2 hour or so, I drink half a cup of milk. Then half an hour later when dinner is ready, I'm not likely to hurry then hurl! Mom Bear

Thats a good idea.... I had cereal this a.m. no problems, but I must have been over anxious to eat the yummy stuff by 11:30... I thought I was eating slowly... but I can tell almost right away if something is not going to stay down. It's funny, but prior to surgery I'd hold it in all day if I thought I was going to vomit... not anymore... I rush to the bathroom to get rid of the offending food right away. It scares me... what if I become bulimic now... Shannon

I cannot eat or drink after I get sick or I will get sick again.

I can relate with Bookie, after incident, no more for me. I have tried and it always back fires and makes me more ill. I share your concern Shannon. At the slightest tinge of pain, I let it go, I don't like feeling sick and just can't tolerate the burping that turns into you know what....I rather get it over with then tinker around for 15-30 minutes feeling miserable only to loose it anyways.... What sucks worse, then I know I have to have a protein drink later to make up for it. Slowing down seems the key, but some days its easier said than done. Sabrina 334/272/150

Hi there! My experience has been much like the pp's. If I wait too long, I get all foamy when I finally do eat. And it's usually downhill from there! Plus, texture and cut varies from restaurant to restaurant. I've had chicken and broccoli that was delicious and perfect, and the same dish from another restaurant will make me . After I get sick, I usually have a nonfat, sugar-free, protein-packed chai latte (didn't someone say that necessity was the mother of invention? ); it's warm and good and soothes my tummy very well! Good Luck! Tiffany S. 328/313/255/???

Chai is a spice tea that mixes well with milk, I drink them myself. Starbucks sells Tzao Chai tea I get them from there but if your super sensative to sugar you may have to make your own theirs is lightly sweetned.

Hey, Barb! Not dumb at all! Heck I didn't know what it was myself until last year. Imagine a spicey black tea. Tastes great with steamed milk, and even better with honey. I got so addicted to the ones I'd get from Starbucks, I was going through major withdrawal after WLS. Then I found a daVinci syrup (the same line used in Starbucks and other coffee shops) that was chai-flavored and sweetened with Splenda. I think I got it from Susan Maria's site, but daVincigourmet dot com is the official site; you'd find it under "tea concentrates". Life is good again! I usually make it with a cup of hot skim milk and add 10g worth of vanilla protein powder, and it's still good. Plus it's an 18g protein shake! Whatever works, right? Tiffany S.

I have heard that if you mix protien in hot drinks, it cancels some of the protien. I don't know if that's true at all, just something I heard.
