May Buddies Check In
Shannon from WI here. My surgery date was May 23. Starting at 275 day of surgery, now at 215. 60lbs. That's the good news.
The bad news is that I'm STILL nauseous every single solitary day, I can't handle heat of any kind and am taking lukewarm/cold showers, I'm constantly itchy and have welts on my chest from scratching... I practically live at my PCP office asking her yet again to fix me.
Either I'm a natural born whiny person, or I'm having a VERY tough time. I'd never recommend this surgery to anyone. 11 weeks out and I've been sick for 9! not good.
This message board has been a real lifesaver for me. Seeing that others struggle, and have issues too, has kept me from giving up, so thank you thank you thank you all for that. I'll keep plugging away, and as I hear daily... "don't worry, it'll get better."... so here's to that.

I AM TERRIFIED TO GET ON MY SCALE!
TERRIFIED

TERRIFIED
I got on it 2 weeks ago and hadnt lost a pound in almost 3 weeks. Im sure it hasnt moved.
I wished I could say I had lost 60someodd pounds! Im soooo jealous! Im not doing anything wrong.......according to my doc and nutritionist. I hate being stuck....have been for over a month!
Carrie,
Try not to freak out about the #'s on the scale. I have hit plateaus several times. Each time is discouraging, so I avoid the scale for a few days, make sure I'm following the rules, and go on with my life. Everyone will hit plateaus, it is natural, and our bodies need to rest. Everyone will lose at different rates too, there are so many contributing factors.
Just make sure you are getting in enough protein, even kick it up more if you can. Watch your calories, drink like a fish, and exercise as much as you can. It will start moving again.
So you didn't say how much you have lost. Even if it is only 10 pounds, it is still 10 pounds gone for good! That is something to be proud of!
Hang in there!

Hey Deanna!
Glad you're doing so well! Keep up the great work! So far, like you, I"ve had no complications. Knock on Wood. My biggest problem so far has been keeping my calorie level up to where my Nut wants it. I just don't really care about food or what I'm eating and if I don'****ch it, my level drops and my weightloss stalls.
I started out a year ago in May at 277, spent a year getting approval, was 287 day of surgery (10 pounds, canya believe it? ) and now am down to 226, unofficially, for a loss of 61 pounds! I have my 3 month check up Monday, so we'll see what the official count is.

I still cannot eat solids without feeling like I'm gonna
I have my (delayed) 3 month follow up on the 18th, so we'll see what the doc says about this food intolerance complication.
At least I'm over the stricture now.
I've been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks. I keep losing and gaining the same 10 pounds. Very frustrating. Everytime I think I'm done with the stall, it sticks again. Oh well.
Overall, I'm thrilled with my energy level, weight loss, and general outcome.
I've lost 90 pounds.
