Okay I would love a bite or 2 of some yummy pizza but I am afraid.I have been pretty good following my doctor's foods but I've got a hankoring for pizza.Anyone had a bite or 2 without any problems.I know every food is different for each of us but wanted to throw it by us may-ers.I dont want the old typical pizza hut kind but a good italian rest. kind.Maybe I should chew it up and get the taste in my mouth and then spit it out.?????

I know that Tom has eaten pizza and I think a few others have too. If you do try, I would definitely chew it very, very well. I wouldn't chew it up and spit it out. When you body detects food, signals are given off and insulin is let go to handle the food that you are taking in. If you don't actually take food in and just chew it...your insulin level will be elevated with no food to work on which means your blood sugars could come down. One thing that I've done in the past is made a low-carb "pizza". Take ground meat and pu**** in the bottom of a pan. Bake it at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Drain the fluid off - it will shrink and pull away from the sides of the baking dish. Then spread on tomato sauce and all your favorite pizza toppings and pop it back in the oven for a while til the cheese is melted and bubbly or turn the broiler on it. Kathy

I have tried pizza. I just chew it very well. I was craving it something awful too, but after I had to eat such small pieces and it took me so long to chew it I kinda figured out that maybe I didn't want it as bad as I thought I did!!

Pizza.....okay I admit I've had it a few times. The thing is that when I eat it generally I can only eat a bite or 3.....then it just begins to feel and taste yuck. The only pizza that I can tolerate are the Totinoe's Frozen Pizza's they are so yummy and the crust is so thin and toasty it works really well in my pouch. I am able to eat about 3-4 bites of these and then I just eat the top of the 1/2 I cook. They are easy to eat and give you 16-18 grams of protein less that of the crust you don't consume. I especially like the taco and hamburger brands. Only 2-3 grams of sugar per 1/2 pizza. But the real pizza's like pizza hut, dominoe's aren't friends with my pouch. I think the problem with the commercial pizza's for me are the doughy crusts.....code name bread. And I know people who eat things and spit them out. Not a good habit. You want to feel full. Spitting food out in my opinion just leads to making you more hungry than you'd be if you just had a bite or 2. It's like my doc always says everything......but in moderation. Morgan 295/245/160

I've made my own 'pizza'. I used a low carb tortilla and sprayed a pan with olive oil (just to keep it from sticking) and cooked it on both sides until it's a bit crisp. Then I put some pizza sauce, turkey pepperoni, and lotsa mozzarella cheese on top and nuke it for a minute (just till the cheese melts) and it is YUMMMMMMMY!! I ate 3/4 of it the first time I made it and could only eat about 1/2 the 2nd time. It has lotsa protein from the turkey pepperoni, cheese, and the low carb tortilla has some protein, too. Michelle

I have discovered it's really just the taste i want so I just eat the cheese which is really the best part and leave the rest.....I don't even fret over the wasted money....because i'm doing what is right for me...good luck with you decision and if you do eat the crest chew well Melissa 346/289-all post op loss/150-soon I hope

We went to Pizza Hut a week ago or so and my family ordered a thin crust Meat Lovers pizza. I had one small slice - ate all the toppings and about two bites of the crust. This is what I pulled from their website and plugged into Fitday: 1 slice of Meat Lovers on thin crust from a Large pizza has: 250 calories 13 g of Fat 20 Carbs 12 g of Protien If you eat half of the crust or less, you could cut the carbs down to 12 or so, and the calories would be a little lower, too.

Wow, great posts for this one! I was never a pizza eater but I did have a piece about a week ago, two bites of crust and the toppings on the rest. I had some salad before that and with the cheese and salad I was done! It was a good, full feeling. I like the recipes you all have given on here............gonna have to try the tortilla and turkey sausage/pepperoni. Good job May babies!!! You guys all rock. Carrie
