Reduced intake?
I'm almost 12 weeks post-op and for the past week or two I've noticed that I cannot eat as much as I could a few weeks ago. I get full faster. The difference is fairly signficiant percentage-wise...I'm probably eating half what I ate before. Weeks ago, I could probably eat 2/3 to 3/4 of a chicken breast and now I'm eating more like 1/3 to 1/2.
Plus I've also noticed that I'm somewhat apathetic about what I eat. I'm not craving anything in particular. I'm content to eat whatever. Just whatever is there to get rid of the hunger to the point where my pouch gives the signal "done".
Very weird.
Kathy
Hey Kathy
I've noticed the same thing. Nothing much excites me anymore and I don't have the "munchies" or the headhunger like I did earlier out. Once in a great, great while, something will actually sound/smell/taste good, but then I get so frustrated that I can eat so little that it almost ruins it for me...
I'm still struggling with my calorie count. I go for my checkup next week and will ask my nut how I'm supposed to be getting 800 calories and still follow her protocol...
Becky
Hey, Becky!
Several weeks ago I added a 3rd protein shake in and that got my weight loss moving again. Had a 14 day lull with a half pound up and down and up and down. The protein worked. With my 3 protein shakes a day - that's about 360 cals a day at 120 per. Thank goodness for those calories. Not sure that the rest of the day adds up to alot. I try. Food doesn't taste bad or anything... I am just getting full fairly fast these days plus I don't care what I eat. Food has become fuel which isn't a bad thing, ya know?
I follow the doctor/nut's protocol...proteins first, followed by vegies, etc.
We'll see...
Good luck!
My next checkup isn't til September.
Kathy
I know... I thought about adding another protein shake but the last time I saw my Nut, she told me to cut it in half (I was doing 2 scoop and a half's a day). She told me I should be concentrating on 50-60 grams of protein and 800 calories a day and that one shake should do it. But that doesn't add up... Even today, with a little sour cream, a little dressing, etc., I only logged 645 calories, and that was a GOOD day!
She told me to supplement with fruit juice to up my calories but to be honest, that kinds of scary - there's so many empty calories in juice, we're told to stay away from it...
Sigh...
There should be an international protocol that's prominently listed everywhere we go and tatooed on our foreheads, as well...
Supplement with fruit juice for calories???? OMG. That's great advice. (Insert big ol' dose of sarcasm here.) I'd lose 0 weight and would probably gain if I did that. My body is very insulin resistant and fruit juice isn't the way to go.
Personally, I'd rather see you get the cals from protein. But I'm not a nutritionist...I just play one on the internet. LOL!
You are right...there should be standards. But that would make life too boring, no?
Sigh, indeed!
Kathy
Kathy,
My friend and I were talking about this at the pool last night. I think I am just bored with things, my old favorites I dont like anymore and I really could care less about eating anthing that is not a veggie or fruit which as we know does not contain protein, I guess its just an adjustment.

I think our bodies are telling us when to eat alot and when we dont eat alot. I see everyone is counting cal. I havent been. I guess thats bad but I fell that I am losing weight just as fast as everyone else. I had my surgery May 20th and I have lost 70lbs. I just make sure I do my 2 protein drinks, vi****er, and 3 meals a day and I snack 2 maybe 3 times depends on if I am hungry. I do notice when I have a busy day that my food intake goes down to maybe 1 to 2 meals (I know thats not good) but I do make sure I get my water in while I am out doing my running around. As for walking I have been really bad at that. Going to work on it. Kathy I think you have been doing great, I think everyone has been doing great. I love to get on here and read what other people are doing and going through because it helps answer some of what I am going through also. Kathy I can't wait to get back to the states and try that cheesecake it sounds really good. My friend may be having the surgery and she lives in Arz.
