Teen jeans!
I finally admitted that my clothes are no longer fitting and decided last night to try one more time the size 18 jeans that have been sitting in my closet forever now. I just knew that they wouldn't fit, but guess what...they do! I'm back down to the teens sizes instead of the twenties! WOW! I haven't wore an 18 in years. And with the way it fits, I should be able to graduate to a 16 very soon! Yeah for me and toot toot on my horn! I'm down 52 pounds the last time I checked and I'm feeling great!
One question...Are the rest of you having a hard time admitting that your clothes are too big? I still haven't gotten rid of any of my big clothes yet. I'm still wearing the same shirts that I was preop even thought they are WAY baggy on me. I guess I'm afraid that like all my other diet attempts, I will be wearing them again. I can't get it through to myself that this is working and is going to be a success. Anyone else experiencing this?
I hear ya girl! Size 18 is where I am also. Down over 40lbs, but not quite 50 yet! I have gotten rid of a few clothes but mostly I am still wearing all my 2x tops. I put my denim capris on the other day and could slide them off without unzipping or un buttoning them. I promptly gave them away to my sister. I'm sure that didnt make her to happy (she is the jealous type) but she was glad to have more summer pants.
I think it is a combination of not believing I wont need them again and loving to see how they don't pull and stretch around my hips anymore and also being to cheap to want to buy more only to need more again in a couple months.
I am quite excited to go to the real true clearence of summer clothes in Sept and Oct!!!!!...............................Jen
What a great feeling that must be! You should be very very proud of yourself and know that this isnt going to be another failed diet attempt. Its a life change.......its exciting!
I havent gotten rid of any clothes because all of mine still fit me! Some just fit looser, but I havent bought anything new.
Im totally feeling like a failure! Rats!

Your not alone in this Dixie. I am still wearing my preop shirts also. After loosing my first 30lbs I was so excited I tried on some of my smaller size clothes and was so disappointed to see that well I still couldn't button it. Since then, even though I am 53lbs down I am still hesitant to try on smaller size clothes. I realize now that before surgery I was wearing clothes that was even to small for my size then and wow elastic clothes can really keep you in an illusionairy world about how big you really had become.
Hopefully soon I will will find the courage like yourself to take the leap and put on smaller size clothes. I can see when looking in the mirror my clothes right now are falling off of me.
Keep up the good work Dixie!

I've been feeling so bloated and blimp-like this week (you know why), that I've been wearing my "security clothes" that are comfortable. So, I sit here typing to you while wearing a size 5x shirt and 5x pants that are falling off of me.
My co-workers commented this morning that the shirt is so big on me now that I should just put on a belt and make it into a dress.
It's hard to admit that your old wardrobe just isn't working anymore. I'm down to a 3x top and 28 pants. Why am I still wearing 32s? Because I can.
I may just keep wearing them until something drastic happens...like they drop to the floor while I'm walking down the hallway. A real danger....
I have gotten rid of 4 grocery bags and a large box of clothes already. Some of them were hard because I liked them and wanted to wear them 'just one more time' but when I put them on they were way too big. I actually am enjoying getting into smaller sizes (but, of course, it's not happening FAST enough, LOL! I've been in size 24s for about a month now - I'm ready for 22s dernit!!!! ) so getting rid of the larger clothes isn't difficult. It is strange and I do get the 'well, you'd better save that just in case' twinge for a second, but it passes. I now have nothing larger than a 2X in my closet and I have one of my largest pair of jeans just for inspiration. Other than that, none of my pre-op clothes at all.

I still have all my pre op clothes too. I have bagged some of them up but something just keeps me from getting rid of them. I tried to wait as long as I could about buying some new clothes but this past weekend I bought two new pairs of pants and 4 shirts. I look so much better with clothes on that actually fit me and makes me feel better about myself. I bought size 18 and ex lg shirts. I still have to wear my "fat" clothes a few days out of the week though. I have lost 47 pounds as of this morning. Congrats on your fitting into those jeans, trust me I know how good it feels!

Heather - we share the same "birthday"!!! Congrats on your weight loss!!!!! I have the opposite problem as you. I have given EVERYTHING away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now my poor closet and dresser are EMPTY.
Pre op - I had five totes of "small clothes" sizes 16 - 20. I was into a 24 when I had surgery. I've shrunk right out of all my five totes!!!
I've got three pairs of shorts 14/16 that still fit. I could probably wear a size L top if I had the money to buy some. I'm currently wearing baggy 18 tops!! I just don't see any sence in buying any clothes until fall, cuz they won't fit next summer.... That is sooooooo cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
