chinese foods anyone?
I've eaten plenty of Chinese cooking as a post-op. However, I'm a food snob (and admit it freely!) and stick with the more authentic restaurants that are plentiful near my home. Real Chinese cooking is pretty good for most post-ops - something like steamed fish with ginger and scallions is quite suitable for even the soft-food stage. Right now I'm craving some ma po tofu (insanely spicy tofu with ground pork, a protein bonanza).
In the Americanized places, though, you have to watch out for the sugar that is dumped into almost everything. Look for simpler preparations. If forced to eat at one of these places, I'll opt for hot & sour soup - but even that is sometimes loaded with sugar for no apparent reason! Weird.
PF Chang's isn't entirely authentic but it's well-prepared and tasty, and they don't glob sugar and starch into everything - if there's one nearby, it's an excellent option.
